Qualitative - Focus groups, in-depth interviews, content analysis, ethnography, evaluation and semiotics are among the many approaches that are used, but qualitative research in its most basic form involves the analysis of any unstructured data. Examples of qualitative research can be film reviews, game reviews, fanzine websites, discussions and responses to news coverage.
Quantitative - Quantitative research is about measuring a market and quantifying that measurement with data. Most often the data required relates to market size, market share, installed base and market growth rates.
