I don't know why it didn't want to post yesterday, but here's my first-ever animation (technically i made a second-long one or so several years ago but i don't know if i'd really count that one)

A section from a page I was filling with pony only really wanna share the three they are all designs given to me by a friend. Rn the names are Malinka (top left) Acid Gleek (top right) and Illie (bottom) I dont think i will be changing the names anytime soon. Illie does have wings that are like a mix of bird and bat that I didn't include since I was struggling to draw them.

There's also a tiny zolt cause zolt is awesome.

Back to posting sketches for now even tho I do have some more finished digital works to share it can't since my computer got messed up. Hopefully I'll be able to get it fixed.

These are sketches of Aloe Water they are a kelpie! She is the guardian of a swamp but considered a monster to those that live nearby. The second image is of her with some fireflies they love fireflies and often are surrounded by them at night. These sketches really can't show off their full design but trust me she's pretty! I love Aloe so much!

For the Tyran au I've actually been making kelpies my thing and it all started from Aloe! I do have a few other designs I've gotten that will become Kelpies as I grow my collection and have Kelpies for all sorts of aquatic environments! I'll have to make a post going over my Kelpies and ideas for them at some point.

Bandi, Zolt, Dan, Morbitsu, Spookly, and Seal (pony based of @thegreatseal who doesn't have an official name or finalized design) gather by the tree. Morbitsu is already playing with an eye popping dragon fidget toy and Zolt has put on her new super long scarf. Bandi waits for Dan to finish opening his gift. Seal and Spookly watching Dan intensely to see if he'll like his gift while the pets get into their own mischief at the tree.

i am going crazy - Tyran Lore yapping (binny binesauce related)

Hi so for the whole of the binty binesauce community who does not know a single thing about me, I draw ponies and write stories about them (among other things). I have a whole MLP AU I've been working on since I was, like, 11 (but most of it has been developed in the last 8ish years, so since I was 14). The basic premise of the AU is that it's a thousand years in the future since G4 took place, and Celestia and Luna (Princesses who had dominion over the sun and moon respectively) were overthrown by a dictator that was then overthrown by Tyran deities, the planet's name was changed to Tyan (instead of Equus) after the dictator took it over, blahblahblah... There is a lot to it that isn't completely necessary to know for the sake of this post.

With how crazed I've been about Red Vox lately, I've had this idea brewing in my head that there would be a Red Vox-equivalent band on Tyran that Zolt would listen to and wear merch for and stuff. So last night I started to actually think about the logistics of it. I've been thinking about different names that the band could have, following a formula of "Red _ox", but I think at this point I'm pretty committed to the band being called "Red Fox", even though it feels like the easiest, most cop-out possible one that fits that formula. As funny as it would be to have the band be called Red Box, it's a lot harder to come up with designs surrounding that concept than for foxes.

I also wanted to come up with a few ideas for "logos" or graphic designs that could go on a T-shirt or poster, or something like that that Zolt would have. I plan for there to be lots of different designs that canonically exist on Tyran, rather than there just being one logo that's repeated over and over (not only because that feels a bit lazy worldbuilding-wise but also because I enjoy Red Vox enough to deeply enjoy making fan graphics for the fictional version of their band). These are the two ideas that i came up with:

This design, I plan on having the striped colors in the background be either green and black or green and a very dark green. If I went with this design and made it digital, I would also change the composition of the splatter in the background.

I tried to redo the face at least four times but it keeps looking like a red panda instead of a red fox and I can't figure out how to fix it!! I put a note to lower the snout on the face if I were to digitize it, and maybe that would help?

The name Red Fox also relates somewhat to lore that I've applied to the band, which is that every member of the band will be Hybreeds. Hybreeds are a type of pony that I created for the lore that are basically just hybrids of pony + any species that one could think of. So, Hybreeds aren't a singular species, but a social group. Hybreeds are not well-understood by a lot of ponies, and a lot of them meet a lot of ridicule and are sort of seen as "mutants" in a way. There are still a lot of those on Tyran who think that only unicorns are able to produce magic (rather than everyone having some form of magic and unicorns just having the powers more commonly associated with magic, like teleportation or levitation), but even those who believe that pegasi and earth ponies have their own magic are more likely to believe that Hybreeds don't.

This is primarily because non-pony animals are also considered to not be capable of producing magic, especially species that are usually non-sentient (for the sake of not thinking too deep into it, I don't have much developed as to the sentience of species that are not traditionally sentient, especially since the ponies on Tyran eat meat; my overall cop-out answer is that individual members of a species can achieve sentience, maybe through some kind of magic, and that it's usually the sentient ones who reproduce with ponies to create Hybreeds; in cases where this isn't the case and a pony bred with a non-sentient creature the Hybreed community generally looks down on them, as well as the rest of pony society. There is a lot of stigma stemming from the overall assumption that most of the time Hybreeds are the product of questionable activity). In reality, non-pony animals do have their own magic. Still, it usually exists more energetically or spiritually than anything else, so it's not something most people really think about or realize. For example, frogs have a part of the "spirit" of water within them, combined with a bit of the "spirit" of plants. Everything contains some amount of this more elemental sort of magic, but the less traditional magic that a species is capable of using, the more spiritual or energetic magic they have. When this extra elemental magic is combined with a species that has access to other types, like ponies, the result (Hybreeds) can often be more magical than the sum of their parts, as they have more ready access to both elemental magic and "traditional magic".

Example: Frogs have both water and plant-based elemental magic that, outwardly, tends not to present itself in any way. Ponies, on the other hand, have access to a massive array of "physical" magic and can harness their magical abilities in a way that most other species simply cannot (without a ton of practice and skill). Therefore, a frog-pony Hybreed is more likely to be able to use powerful water magic that has more external effects, combining the elemental magic of one parent with the traditional magic of another. So, a frog-pony might be able to walk on water, or swim exceptionally fast, or breathe underwater for longer. If powerful enough, they may even be able to influence the water itself to create small waves or whirlpools, or to produce water in excessive amounts within their bodies to forcibly expel (think like most water-type moves in Pokémon...). But, because ponies see frogs as not having any magic whatsoever because it's a magic they can't "see", the public assumption is that frog-pony hybrids are way less likely to have "proper" magic than a regular pony would be, and that if one were able to have "proper" magic, it would be all thanks to the pony parent and no thanks to the frog parent.

Given this, you could imagine how many different combinations of pony-nonpony types there are and how there are a great number of possibilities for the kinds of magic they could produce. Some won't produce too much physical magic (the term I've been using to describe outward-presenting magic or 'traditional' magic), while others will be able to create a ton of it.

All this to say, I'm still developing the different types of elemental magic that exist. A lot of them will probably be based on Pokemon types, but some will be based on other types of magic, like the one most relevant to this post: bard magic or, more broadly, sound magic.

I wanted to develop a pony that is at least vaguely based on Vinny, but I don't want to make the other members of the band based on the actual existing members of Red Vox, for a few reasons:

I have plans for Red Fox that involve there being a lot more members of the band than there are in the existing band, so I think it could be a bit awkward trying to work that concept in with several members being based on existing people

I don't really like making ponies based on actual people that I use in actual lore, or plan on drawing a lot / using as actual OCs, I think it can come across as a bit privacy-invading. That's honestly why I've spent months ruminating on whether to even go through with making Red Fox a thing or not. Vinny is a lot more of a public figure than the other members of the band; I feel that the other members are generally at least a bit more private than Vinny is, so if I am going through with making it a thing I'm a lot more comfortable making a pony based around Vinny than I am for the others.

Frankly, I don't know enough about the other members as people to make a good judgment on what animal Hybreeds they would be. I feel I would be primarily basing it around their instruments of choice, and that feels a bit disrespectful in the case of basing characters on real people. I'm much more comfortable conceptually doing that for characters that I'm building from the ground up.

As for point one, I plan for Red Fox to have a lot of members of the band, sort of. A lot of the "members" of Red Fox will be features that have played a part in the creation of one or more songs for the band, but are affectionately still considered to be members of the band ("once a Red Fox, always a Red Fox"). There'll be 4-5 more permanent members of the band, but the only consistent member of the band that has taken part in the creation of every song/album/single would be the Vinny pony (I still don't have a name for him,,,) As such, the music that would be produced by Red Fox will be a lot more diverse than the music Red Vox produces (I hope this won't come across as a diss; the fact that I'm making a fictional band inspired by Red Vox should be sufficient in informing you that I adore Red Vox's music the way it is… It's just fun for me to design characters!!!) This'll also allow me to do the super fun thing of learning about all types of instruments to make characters based around. I suppose in this sense, Red Fox will be a bit Gorillaz-y (which makes sense, since that was my favorite band until I discovered Red Vox…)

Oh, another (silly) benefit of the band being called Red Fox is that a lot of the bands I enjoy happen to involve animals in their names in some way (Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys, Tame Impala, The Beatles, Great White [the last one is a bit of a silly one since I've only heard one of their songs but it's a song that I've been hearing for as long as I can remeber/I consider it to be the first song I ever remember hearing]).

I also have a loose concept of the main guy - "Vinny pony" hsadnadnsadn - having the ability to bring out the bard magic in other Hybreeds, and create magical effects with his music, because I'm cringe and I love that guy. Here are the concept sketches I made of "Vinny pony" which I didn't really like:

I know that I want him to be a duck Hybreed of some sort. I'm leaning towards mallard duck even though that feels a bit simple and easy. I will probably experiment with different types of duck that he could be, but for now, mallard is the placeholder. I'm still not exactly sure how much "duck" I want him to have in appearance (particularly, whether I want him to heave a beak or not). I did make this sketch that I think is the closest thus far to what I will have the final design look like:

This is the cutie mark concept that i have for him.

I really enjoy playing around with the concept of cutie marks that change in different contexts or situations (cough cough; dan pony's TV cutie mark changing depending on mood/situation), so I had the idea that the bubbles might change into music notes when he is singing or making music.

I want his design to have a bit of silliness and a bit of charm to it, but I want the design to also actually look good (the evil worm in my brain says "like Vinny".... shut up evil worm), so I think it will probably take me a while to settle on an actual final design unless somehow I cook up some serious magic and make something that looks really good while still having a lot of silly potential.

Uhh, wow, I've been yapping a lot. I'm gonna go work on designing/doodling some Red Fox band members...
