The winds of change have taken hold and it looks like I'll be shifting focus... again.
So I might as well post pics of my Tyranids before they find themselves "put on the shelf".
They're all still work in progress - but mostly cos of their bases
First, one of my Screamer Killers; this guy was close to being finished, just had to sort out his base.
My other Screamer Killer; I tried to change his pose to make him charging... bit of an awkward model when you take away his neck, but I liked how it turned out.
One of my two Pyrovores; I wanted the muzzle of the Flamespurt to look burnt by the heat - tried to make it look like full-thickness burned flesh. The idea that Tyranid organisms will injure themselves by design intrigues me - its not like they have a family to go home to after the battle...
My Hyper-Evolved Raveners attached to regular Raveners... full of brood of 10 once I get the other three finished... later.
First of three Lictors. I love how Lictors have three poses in the build options. All achieved by swapping out bits for the joints on their upper claws, neck and waist.
And lastly, Deathleaper; the leader of my merry band of mono-evolved killing machines.
What’s coming up next week?
Whenever the Great Gun of Volkus fires, its shockwaves rock the foundation of the Hive City Fissilicus. In the wake of its latest great report, alien growths are unearthed and in response Tech-Priests are sent to investigate with Battleclades of cyborg servants as protection. Doing so wakes up broods of vicious Raveners, and battle ensues in an environment warped by Tyranid growths. Kill Team: Typhon contains two new kill teams. The Battleclades are a group of eight Servitors outfitted for combat and exploration, led by a Servitor Underseer who relays messages to the rest of the crew, as directed by the more learned Technoarcheologist. Raveners are a brood of aggressive bioforms that can tunnel through terrain to ambush their foes, and their kill team comprises four specialised Raveners led by a Prime.
That terrain fucks.

Battle In Barre!! 2K pts 40k Tourny Report
Played at a local 10 man tourny today. Ended up going 0-3, and a total of 153 points on the day over 3 games, placing me 9th overall.
Chess Clocks were used, starting at 80 minutes per player. Most games saw me finish with about 10-15 minutes left.
First game against Druhkari (Dark Eldar)
Scenario 31 - Overrun
Lost 43-73 and I was tabled on T4. It's just a really tough match up in general and my melee focused list isn't well suited to transport spam especially, so I didn't expect much honeatly. It was a generally low scoring game too, but I also misplayed and left 8 points on the table, and playing half unpainted cost me another 10. Potentially might have been 61-73, but still it was good practice into a tough matchup.
Second Game vs Death Guard
Scenario 11 - 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Scenario was basically, "Just Don't Die" and that played extremely well for my opponent.
Lost 64-82. Vs Death Guard with Mortarion, which was a little more doable, just because of my manueverability. Morty took the center and blocked me out of my last Secondary entirely, so that hurt my score a lot. Ended the game with 29 gaunts left scoring me points. Again, down 10 from unpainted so could of been a bit closer on the margin here as well.
Game 3 vs Tyranids
Scenario 13 - Vital Intelligence
Lost 46-97. Played the Space Bugs mirror here, my Kraken / Behemoth melee list, vs a Kronos ranged/ Leviathan list, and Kronos is pretty much hands down our most competitive dps right now, so this does not surprise me at all. Also against the guy who took second overall, and who scored the most points on the day. (We got paired because his round 2 match-up was a loss against the Druhkari player and his only low scoring game of the day.)
I was tabled on T5 but my dice were also just not in it and my army melted pretty fast to all his extremely consistent ranged elements, which also kept picking me off my objectives and that hurt my scoring a lot. Again 10 pts down because of unpainted, but it is what it is. (There is a reason I dont play at LGS tournaments..)
Overall, it was a ton of fun, even when I expected to lose pretty hard. The other Tyranids player topped out the event with 244 points, while the 3-0 Death Guard player had only 242 pts. 3rd had 221, while 6th place had 214 pts overall, so it was very competent group of players with 2 of the games being pretty hard to max Primaries on.
I didn't expect to do well, because I am willfully playing a bad archetype list that I enjoy. It has good melee potential, but no staying power or ranged consistency, which is exactly what the other Tyranids player had.
My final score might have potentially been 191 over three games if I just actually finished painting things, but I enjoyed the experience regardless, and was happy to put another 3 games under my belt!

Tyranids Incoming!
This morning we have some exciting news for those of you that are avid fans of Warhammer 40K: Conquest! Fantasy Flight Games has officially announced the introduction of the Tyranids into the game, with the first deluxe expansion, titled: The Great Devourer.
Tyranid Genestealers
This expansion is brings the Tyrind race into the game in a big way. Following the warlord cycle that will be complete in the next few months, The Great Devourer will bring everyone’s favorite bugs in on par with the more established forces of the galaxy. Two warlords are being brought into the fray; one by the name of Old One-Eye, a fan favorite from years gone by. His warlord ability is pretty freaking ridiculous, healing him of half damage every time he readies! The second warlord has yet to be shown, but I imagine we’ll see either the Swarmlord, or maybe the Doom of Malantai(?).
Of course, no threat like the Tyranids is complete without a set of new rules and special abilities to shake up the game and really terrify the tournament scene. To fill this role, we’re given several rules: Synapse, Infestation, and Hive Mind. Each of these unique new rules allows the Tyranids to feel thematic, while keeping them in line with the games current mechanics.
For a more detailed description of these new rules, and to see some of the new cards being introduced, follow the sourcelink below! Don’t forget to look for The Great Devourer in your friendly local game store in the second quarter of 2015!
