California: Unknown Address
Welp, here they are again. The sun is shining bright over the hills of California, as well as a nice glow over the quiet secluded house that's still home. It's as peaceful as ever here, untouched by any chaos or blood that was once spilt. It's just green, brown, grey, included with the sounds of chipping birds and wind humming through the open area. A decent amount of time has passed since the Hollywood murders, but no less than a month.
Y/N is standing on the back porch, watching as Sidney runs down the street with Cherokee, their energy completing matching in terms of ecstatic and full of life. He can't help but smile as he watches them coming back to the house like this, having witnessed so much change in only a few weeks. He would be a fool if he didn't take after he example when it came to character development.
But then, it reminds him of the thing he's been planning to do on this specific day, having done so much mental preparation as if he was a serial killer himself to make sure that he did this right without looking like a total douchebag. Roman Bridger and Angelina Tyler are dead and yet this feels like he's already back on the chopping block.
"Hey." Sidney's voice then emits through his ear drums, snapping him out of his thoughts as he stands up straight to face the woman a little too quickly.
"Hi." Y/N still manages to say though, greeting their adorable dog with many pets before helping him back inside so they can have a private moment. Cherokee seems to get the hint and jogs away to see if anyone else in the house will get him some food.
"Are you okay?" She asks him with a raised brow, already able to tell that something's up with him, only makes Y/N mentally panic even more.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Y/N answers only for his voice to squeak at the end, prompting Sidney to give him a look. "But, I mean it this time. I know, 'I'm fine' usually means I'm not fine, but I really fine, because I'm really just-" He goes off before realizing how stupid he sounds, stopping with a big sigh. "Damn it....."
"Wow, Y/N, you made very little sense and yet have amazed me with that non-sentence alone." Sidney quips with a giggle as she looks incredibly amused by his extremely rare nervousness. "You truly have a gift, you know that?"
"Yeah, that's me." Y/N agreeingly remarks, poking fun at himself. Sidney then reaches over and holds his nearest hand in an attempt to ease his anxiety.
"Come on, what's on your mind?"
Y/N nods before takes a deep breath, wanting to get all of this out without stuttering again. He's been through two killing sprees, three if you count the recent one, has watched many of his friends and exes die, and fought many people behind the Ghostface mask with half of his body torn to shreds, but this.... this scares the complete shit out of him.
"Okay, so...... do you remember those conversations we used to have before I had to leave? You know, about staying in this home until we both kicked the bucket or something?" He begins, to which Sidney nods with a now curious face. "Well, I know were just considering alternate places to move at the time, but the more I thought about it, the more I started thinking my future, which then evolved into thinking about our future, and......" He lets out a small exhale. "It made me realize how much I loved you."
Hearing such a heartfelt confession makes Sidney's eyes soften as she tilts her head, wondering where this is going. "Look, I know I've.... I've been a major asshole through most of this life." He continues, awkwardly clearing his throat. "And I don't deserve any of the chances you've given me, yet you still let me stick around like an itch that refuses to go away." He brings up, before taking one step backwards. "Which is why, as you know me, I don't wanna beat around the bush anymore."
He then drops to one knee, causing Sidney's eyes to widen. "Oh my gosh!" She exclaims with a soft gasp, subconsciously clamping a hand over her mouth.
"I love you very much, and although I deserve anything else but to ask this question...." Y/N concludes his non-speech before pulling out a tiny velvet box from his pocket, flipping it open to reveal a simple yet beautiful ring inside. He tries to prevent them, but his hands trembles as he holds it. "Sidney Prescott, will you marry me?"
Sidney stares back at him like he just declares the craziest thing in the world, more bizarre than anything Ghostface has said. Y/N's hands then start to shake harder, dreading that this means that his timing was off, that this was too soon, that she isn't ready, and she's just about to try and shoot him down in the nicest way possible.
But then, Sidney's mouth finally makes a noise, her eyes turning into a glassy watery mess as she is now unable to hold in her tearful laugh. Before he can even see it coming, she picks him up and launches forward, catching his lips by surprise with a deep and meaningful kiss. When she pulls back, she lets out a another shaky giggle.
"Yes."
Y/N blinks rapidly. "Wait, did you say-"
"Yes, Y/N! Yes!" Sidney confirms as she wraps her arms around him and squeezes tighter than she ever has in her life. She then quickly grabs the ring and slides it on her finger, staring at her hand in awe. "It looks so good on me."
"Glad you think so, because I don't think I can buy another one." Y/N remarks with a smirk that tries to hide how little money he has at the moment, to which Sidney giggles before capturing him in another passionate kiss. "You know, you really terrified me for a second, there..." He shares with her honestly as they now hold each other in a long embrace. "I tried rehearsing a speech with Dewey, but nothing we could come up made the cut."
"A speech wouldn't have been you at all." Sidney comments with a knowing smile, to which Y/N agreeingly chuckles.
"Yeah, probably not."
"Hey, guess who's back!" A third party exclaims as the two of them break out of their hold and turn to Mark Kincaid in some actual casual clothing for once, standing at the opposite end of the opened front door with a bag of popcorn in the hand that isn't in an arm cast. "Looks like some good news just happened."
"Are you surprised?" Y/N playfully questions him as if he wasn't just a panicking mess just a few seconds ago, which makes Sidney cackle out loud.
"I'll take that as a yes." Mark responds with a smile that's earnestly happy for them, seemingly having found a place in his life to relax with his friends for the first time in what must feel like forever for him. "How about we celebrate with a movie? We were just about to turn something on." He suggests as Gale and Dewey then enter the living room as well, looking oddly similar to the way Sidney and Y/N look right now.
"What kind of movie?" Sidney asks him curiously, to which Mark shrugs.
"You'll have to come in and see." He jests with a teasing smirk before he, Gale, and Dewey jog into the living room with Cherokee right behind them just because of the energy they're radiating.
"Please be The Mutilator..." Y/N mumbles with a slightly hopefully as he walks inside with Sid right behind him, ironically in the mood for a slasher in spite of everything. Sidney just scoffs at him, but in an amused way.
"What is your obsession with that movie?"
Before Y/N can answer, the front door behind them abruptly swings open thanks to the wind, showing that they probably left the tiniest crack of it not closed. He glances at the woman he's now engaged too, a little impressed that she's not immediately going to change it like she usually does "Aren't you gonna lock it?" He asks her, but to his further surprise, she shakes her head.
"No need." Sidney says as she gives Y/N a soft peck on the lips. "I got you for protection." She quips affectionately before turning around to walk towards the living room, leaving the Loomis whistling, more than honored.
As he goes in to join them, Dewey meets up with him half-way. "Did she say yes?" He asks him with a expecting face, to which Y/N happily nods.
"How about you?" Y/N shoots the question back at him, glad to see Dewey also nodding.
"She did." Dewey confirms, and the two men share a well-deserved fist-bump.
No matter what everyone and everything tried telling them, they all got their happy ending.
