Champions never give up. And they never did.
Today’s game of Ateneo Lady Eagles Volleyball Team was the best and my fav game of all their games for this UAAP Season 78. Not because they matched up against their rival school nor it came up to five sets but because I just saw and witnessed again the old Ateneo team I know.
“Yung team na sanay ma underdog. Yung sanay sa paghahabol at nanatiling ‘compose’ sa mga dikitang puntos. Yung team na 'nothing to lose, everything to gain’ and 'no pressure’ mind of set. Yung team na nanghahawa sa isa’t isa ng ngiti, tawa at saya sa loob at labas ng court. Yung team na 'happy, unity, heartstrong.’ Isama na din yung pagiging paasa sa mga kalaban.” And skills? No doubt! Skills and power are there.
I don’t know if I’m the only one who noticed it but I’m just really so proud and happy to saw again how they were used to be on the court that hailed them as Champions back then.
Everyone contributed, everyone played hard and gave their best on today’s game.
“Siguro yun yung namiss ko sa kanila.”
Don’t get me wrong. They always played their A Plus in every game this season but today’s game was special.
It brought me back on their Cinderella run last Season 76.
They were young and rebuilding team that time. No expectations. No pressure. Yet they worked and played hard. Experienced the lowest of lows and the highest of highs with that Happy, Unity, Heart strong mantra that Coach Tai instilled to them.
And then BOOM! It paid off.
Took home the crown on Eagle’s nest and there they are, defending it.
Haaay. They really prevailed today!
And I know they will continue to fight as they come to Semi Finals and for sure on to the Finals.
You reminded me of why I love and become a fan of your team.
It’s not all about the skills.
It’s the values and character you put on to the game.
