Hi! Can you explain to me the whole Sakura shouldn’t wear the Uchiha crest thing bc she can’t do fire style jutsus??? I saw it on a post and I tried looking it up but either I’m not wording it right or people outside of tumblr aren’t talking about it. It’s okay if you don’t want to answer.

I’m about to ruin their day.

Katon jutsu is not a requirement to be able to wear a crest. It means you can wear it with pride, not that you cannot wear it period.

Warnings in case this gets popular: I’m anti SS, critical of the ending, and I’m only refuting the point “Sakura cannot wear the crest because she does not know Katon jutsu.”Let’s look at chapter 220, when our Uchiha Massacre flashbacks start.

Oh! Look.... Sasuke’s wearing the Uchiha crest. This is BEFORE he learns the Fireball Jutsu.

Here is a clearer shot of Sasuke from the same chapter.

1st Note: This IS Sasuke, you can see Itachi’s ponytail by Sasuke’s right ear.

2nd Note: See how Itachi applies a different meaning to the Uchiha crest? This certainly isn’t the meaning of the crest from the Founders era. The crest is basically just a denotion of surname and/or bloodline.

(Also here’s chapter 220 just so you  can see Sasuke’s been wearing the Uchiha crest for a while.) 

Chapter 223 is when Fugaku actually begins teaching Sasuke the Fireball!

As sad as this is, look at how he has a crest!

And here is VIZ’s official translation of when Sasuke actually completes the jutsu:

I’ve seen another translation say that “Now you can wear the crest on your back with pride.” Meaning, Sasuke was already wearing it before, but now he can be proud of it. 

What we learned: The Uchiha crest has different meanings for different individuals depending on the time period, but at its most base form, the crest is to denote an individual is of Uchiha lineage or related to an Uchiha (by blood or by marriage.)

Sakura can legally wear the Uchiha crest. She is missing plenty of reasons to wear it with pride and is blind to its history, but legally she is married to Sasuke and thus is allowed to wear the crest.
