words can’t wait express the level of love that i have for this team. last night, i truly felt my heart shatter when that whistle blew. we can talk about that and so many of the other bs calls that were made through that game and honestly this tournament, but i think all of the stars of the sport speaking out tells you all that you need to know. those girls deserved better. nika and aaliyah deserved better.

that call didn’t make the game. we got ourselves into a position where the refs had the ability to end our run. that’s on us and trust me the girls know that. i won’t let that heartbreaking game define these girls because that would be just disrespectful as hell.

i want to celebrate all that these girls did this season in spite of everything that was thrown at them. no one believes that a team with only 8 healthy players would ever make it to the final four and nearly take out the media darling herself. they did that through nothing short of hard work, determination, passion, and belief. we obviously don’t know what went down behind closed doors, but i think it’s fair to say that nothing that this team went through was easy. they were harassed by the media who only wanted to shed light on the injuries and how they were letting down the uconn legacy. to every report that asked those girls a disrespectful question: fuck you.

these girls are the epitome of the uconn legacy. they never gave up. they worked so damn hard. hell we had starters playing 40 minutes in back to back tournament games and i never heard the girls complain. even the girls who got there season taken away from them by injury still kept our energy up and always had a smile on their face. they deserved a healthy team so so much!

even without azzi and all the other talent, we made it to the final four. my babies fucking did that. i hate the way it ended but i couldn’t be more proud.

aaliyah edwards, we love you so so much. my canadian queen. my all american. our north star who truly held us together this year. you got none of the credit that you deserved. your legacy at uconn won’t be this game. it will be all that you added to that team over the last 4 years. we are gonna miss your tiktoks and game day posts. i can’t wait to see what your next chapter holds. me love you so so so much

nika mühl, you did absolutely everything that you needed to last night. after all the shit people put in you, you went out there and did it. you hit some huge shots for us and locked up a great player. you are a dawg and truly the secretary of defense. i’m going to miss you an unimaginable amount. you add so much to our game from your intensity to your skills. we would’ve been so lost without your talent and leadership. you’ve given so much to this program that won’t soon be forgotten. you proved yourself beyond measure this year. the assist records alone speak to your talent. we love you our croatian babygirl. thank you for giving us another defensive masterclass as you locked up yet another star player. can’t wait to see what happens next for you. uconn nation will always be in your corner.

my huskies for life. it’s been so beautiful to watch you all grow from little freshman to the strong women that you are. this isn’t how your last game together should have gone, but the bonds you have built are unbreakable. thank you for letting us in our the beautiful chemistry that you seniors cultivated.
