anyways you may have noticed i called him sensitive and people-pleasing in my original post. that was referring to how he was when he was first split from his siblings-- lmao he is not that way anymore, not openly anyway. he never shuts up and he never seems to take anything seriously, and because of that he's earned a really unfortunate role as the black sheep of the family, as well as. well. the failure. he's so clumsy he cant even hunt, and god forbid he has to FIGHT. they roll their eyes at everything he does and he just smiles and laughs through the lump in his throat.

the way he's seen by everyone in his life just contrasts badly with the fact that his feelings are still incredibly fragile, but he's quick to laugh around it and pretend he's not hurt, even if he'll fall back on avoidant behavior to compensate (mostly self-isolation. depression cat!). he's incredibly lonely, with only stormcall as company these days. he doesn't even sleep in camp anymore. although im not going to gas him up as this tortured soul with no flaws, USUALLY his response to being told to shut the fuck up is to get more annoying. its just that when it comes down to it, he's a little too forgiving. he makes a lot of bad decisions because of it-- you'll never see an angry ray. annoyed, upset, defensive, but not angry. not ever. he's kind of constitutionally incapable of it, even if he can be rude.

otherwise he's only close to wolfmoon, who he loves to bother like an annoying little brother. wolf clings to the same belief that his other siblings (sans stormcall) do, but he's a lot more tolerant of it-- he sees ray as someone who needs his protection and guidance, even if he can be hurtful and callous towards his issues, ultimately. they're not the best at communicating, but they'd do anything for each other. ray loves to sneak over the border and bother him. wolfmoon would kill for him, but only if he doesn't kill him first LMAO

and as for the others. 😬 all he did was have joy and whimsy and be really really gay and they hate him for no reason!!!!!!!

HELLO YES PLEASE TALK MORE ABOUT THE KITTIES!!!! That is SUCH an interesting concept and I'd love to know more!

Especially: I need to know the drama behind Lilysight being,,, involved with that many different tomcats 👀 WHAT was she up to?? Did they know? Do they know????? And is there any information, names, designs, etc for the fathers?

i cant go into it TOO deeply but the sires (one of them's a woman! her name is blazewing) were all very close friends of lilysight, some (aka i think. one LOL. if the others know its through guessing once the news came out) of them know but she kept it from most of them for personal reasons, related to the split actually. there was so much going on and it was to protect their reputation and their lives. she was in a pretty interconnected group that spanned across clans.

lily may look enigmatic, but she's a very caring person, she just got up to a lot of very interesting stuff lmao. they really do not know the depths of her weird until well into the story, and she was like that by design. she did keep it from them for a reason :') left them behind with some issues though

here's the non-spoiler sires with designs, mostly because they're just trivia + already dead at this point

palestem of riverclan and blazewing of windclan! they were not aware of their relation to the kids (pale might have had a hunch, but he never said anything about it for plot reasons.)

my new internal portrait editor for my game just got a really new great feature ive been working on

(i wrote a wholeass plugin just to be able to rename the portrait entries and have a "run" button on a dictionary/table set)

before this i had to manually type in portrait names an click a button to show them, and had to have an entire duplicate list of values to be able to rename them...

all of these portraits are made of ~7 maximum layers of images that can be dynamically configured and saved as portraits to be used in dialogue.
