Save us Al and Cerrone
If Walt Harris doesn’t spark Sergey Spivak in the first round, I’m going to be sad(der than I already am).
Donald Cerrone dominates Al Iaquinta to take the decision
Tremendous performance from Cowboy as he pieces up Iaquinta over the course of the fight, devastating him with leg kicks and keeping him at reach. At one point he dropped Iaquinta on a front kick to the face. Did a fantastic job with volume too, always throwing long combos whenever he managed to get Al to retreat or cover up.
Iaquinta got away from what made him dangerous, in part because his lead leg got absolutely wrecked. Got caught out at kicking range, taking away his combinations and his body punching. I think the game plan was for Al to catch Cerrone’s kicks and counter or absorb the kick and immediately step in to throw. In the back half of the fight, it was basically just Al winging that over hand right or left hook hoping to connect when he chose to plant his feet.
This sure is....still happening
I didn’t watch a lot of tape on Barriault but he seems content throwing the overhand right over and over and over again. He’s better in the clinch throwing uppercuts, body shots and hitting on the break. Work the jab to the body guy.
Sanchez doing the only thing that could cost him the fight, just letting Barriault push himself into the clinch and to the fence.
Shane Burgos takes a SD over Cub Swanson
Fun fight! Burgos’ pressure and volume are enough to carry him to a decision over Swanson. Burgos still content to walk himself into the pocket on straight lines. He’s got good defense but he forgoes it a lot to gamble in close. He was able to do it here against Cub. Swanson just wasn’t able to bring out the big strikes to get Burgos to back down. Did a great job of making him pay though when Burgos came in on straight lines.
They really intro-ed Macy Chiasson by quoting Captain Marvel. And now she’s walking out to Fur Elise....
