My uncle told me over the phone last week or so, of a time he had to baby sit me and took me to the library. Now, I was very hyperlexic as a child. I read full encyclopedia by age five. Deadass.

So not only was he surprised when I didn't read the picture books he chose. But when I walked over to the history section, scanned the shelves I could reach, grabbed a book and just... read, not even bothering to find a seat to sit on.

He told me that someone saw me reading some historical war book and tried to gently get me to stop and I'd asked, "Why? I can handle it." And when they said it's not appropriate for kids I said, "I need to know. Now or later."

According to my uncle, this was before my seventh birthday...
