- this man is like..he will just cover you with his body..he’s a big guy so what are you gonna expect?

Cross legged, you stared at the boy sitting in front of you, eyes squinted as he himself was fixated on the kids playing just a few meters away. Your lips were curled on a slight smile at the sight, his gaze darting from one kid to the other as they passed on the ball, clearly immersed on the effort he saw on the tiny humans, even if it was absolutely pointless. 

“What are you thinking, Toshi?” You spoke softly, a cold breeze ruffling your hair as it made its way between the two of you. The boy kept on fixated, only looking at you from the side of his eyes for a slight second.

“I remember when I was their age, I was taller though” He turned to you, picking up one of the onigiri you had brought to snack on while you hung out on the park and passing it to you, then immediately grabbing one for himself. 

“Did you always knew you wanted to play volleyball?” It might have been a stupid question, one which you knew the answer to, however you wanted to hear it from him. There was something in the way he spoke, whenever he did you knew there was nothing more to it, a sincerity that while most found blunt  you found calming, reassuring. 

“Ever since I have memory…I still have some ways to go, but I am happy with it has carried on” He nodded, taking a bite from his onigiri. The sun was setting soon, and the light seemed to shower the place in golden, every tree, stone and flower, and it made you look prettier than ever. His heart thumped against his chest, a sensation that he had learnt to deal with ever since he met you. The first few times you took his breath away he had not known how to deal with it, not sure of why was he feeling that way, so he had probably acted a little harsh on you. Lucky for him you seemed to enjoy his company, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy yours too. Your smile was something he could get never tired of, everytime you smiled at him it felt so organic, expecting nothing of him but his company. He couldn’t help but remember the first time he truly appreciated that smile.

The cheers fell on deaf eyes as Ushijima fixed his gaze on the other side of the net, everything around him becoming a blur, the movement of the crowd and those outside the court irrelevant to him, the only thing that mattered lied inside the white lines that marked the edge of the area. With one swift movement he served the ball, his palm aching with a very familiar sensation as it was sent flying to the opposing team. 

They had barely managed to save it, the setter ready to give his all in order to stop Shiratorizawa from scoring that one point that would grant them the victory of the match. Little did he know Ushijima was ready for their every move, and he knew what was needed to score that one spike that would end the match for once and for all. 

The opposing spiker jumped, hitting the ball with all his might. However Tendou shifted quickly, one of his fearsome blocks earning them one touch, one chance. Wakatoshi watched his teammates move around him, and in a second he was ready to soar, running down the court to the best position he could find, ready to play through. He met Shirabu’s eyes as the ball came in contact with the setter’s hands, Wakatoshi jumped. Never letting his eyes leave the ball he hit it with all his might, position perfectly neutral, as the spike was sent smashing to the side of the court.

A whistle blowed, the gym was deadly silent, before erupting in cheers all around him. 

“Good one Ushiwaka” Tendou smiled cockily as he patted his friend on the back “and look who comes here”, he wiggled his eyebrows as you walked towards the boys. Ushijima turned to look at you.

“That was amazing” You smiled at him, and he could not help but notice the spark in your eyes, something about you made him know you meant what you said and he could not help but smile back.

“Toshi?” You called, waving your hand to catch his attention, scooting over to you boyfriend who had been looking at you immersed deep in thought, brows furrowed. Your voice bringing him back to the park, only now you were way closer than before, he met your eyes and shamelessly shifted to stare at your lips. He had not kissed you before, as much as he wanted he just guessed he hadn’t found the right time. But now you were so close, the setting was just so peace-full and you smelled so good, all he wanted was to see how it felt. 

“Can I kiss you?” He asked, his voice as serious as ever, taking you by surprise, sending blood rushing to your cheeks not expecting him to ask right then and there. 

“Of course you can” You answered, his brown eyes looking slightly golden from where you now sat. He inched closer to you, clearly a little lost on how to go about it. You placed a hand on his cheeks, guiding him slightly until your lips met for a second. 

Yes, it felt as good as he thought it would, he made a mental note to kiss you more often, maybe then would he get a better grasp and be able to take your breath away as much as you unknowingly did to him.
