can someone in the UK who's successfully got out of their parents house AS A DISABLED ADULT (who relies a bit on their care and money because they've made themselves indispensable to you through your life but you desperately want to be independent because if you don't get away from their abuse soon you might actually curl up and Die) help me?
i need to know how to look for housing on my own, what my options are, finding an accessible home tips, etc. if anyone has the energy levels to even point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it.
i'm already going to read through shelter's website - reading is low spoon for me so i can do it all day - especially if they have any resources for disabled folks. might also contact them for more specific help but i always feel like i'm taking resources away from people who need it 'more'.
if it matters, i'm queer, a trans man, a disabled wheelchair user, i’m mentally ill and autistic and have no dependents. I feel like those matter most of all my goings on. Im not picky where I live but West Midlands would be ok, maybe the Fylde coast or Scotland if I can be pickier and have any followers from those places. ETA: i cannot work due to my health and fatigue issues, and my income is solely benefits based too, i forgot to mention that.
i'm also seeking resources on how to maybe cut my family off once i move out. which is... a lot to admit but i don't think i want my mother in my life like she is now. full no-contact or arms length stuff would be great, either or.
