Samsung Electronics UK today showcased the future of the home TV viewing experience with the UK reveal of its Curved UHD TV (the HU8500 range) and unveiled its ambitions for the future as it looks to lead the UHD market.

Speaking at the UK unveiling, Andy Griffiths President of Samsung UK & Ireland used the event as a platform to communicate Samsung’s ambition to continue to be the number one brand for the entire TV market, and become the number one brand for the UHD TV market.

Samsung believes curved UHD TV is the next phase in the evolution of the home viewing experience; with the curved design combined with revolutionary UHD technology, bringing images to life like never before with a deeper sense of depth, wider viewing angles and a clearer picture quality with higher contrast levels creating a more immersive viewing experience.

Robert King, Vice President, Consumer Electronics Samsung UK & Ireland speaking at the event, discussed the rationale behind the curve highlighting cinema screens as Samsung’s inspiration. Having completed extensive research in cinemas viewing films from every angle and viewpoint, Samsung engineers have created a deeper and wider viewing experience for the home with the HU8500, thanks to its curved design.

Samsung enlisted support of other industry experts to discuss how they see the new UHD curved TV changing the landscape. They included interior designer Kelly Hoppen (MBE), who talked through her vision for how these curved TVs will become a beautiful part of a living room design; award winning cinematographer John Mathieson who shared his thoughts on what the curved TV design and use of UHD will make possible from a film creation perspective, and MD of Eurosport David Kerr who talked about how the curved angles and enhanced picture quality will bring sport into homes like never before.
