The Chough pub sign study by me, original woodcut artist for the sign unknown.
#pub sign#uk pub#cornish chough#red billed chough#art by ae#the pub is long closed and the sign is lost :(#i deeply hope someone saved it by buying it at auction#it's a gorgeous composition look at how the chough looks ready to spring into flight on the windy cliff edge#and the fact that someone made a woodcut print for a pub sign!#incredible#i don't actually know for sure it's a woodcut but i studied the online reproduction for a long time while making this#and it has all the hallmarks of a woodcut#those black lines around the edge etc#compared with most full colour art pub signs which are just painted it's a very different style
