The Writers Guild of America (WGAW and WGAE) asked the professional film and television writers that comprise their membership to vote on the best screenplays of all time in order to honour the often forgotten writers behind these timeless pieces.
Though the list was compiled in 2005, many still see it as one of the most valid lists of great screenplays throughout time [link provided above]. What do you think? And why do you think most of the movies are from earlier decades as opposed to more recent movies, even for 2005 (especially the top few)? Is it because they've proven to be timeless classics, or are more recent screenplays simply not measuring up in the same way?
Keep these classics in mind for November when UK Film Festival 2014 brings a slew of new potential classics to London!
