"someone, SOMEONE has sold a story about me and y/n to the bloody daily mail that apparently i stream too much and we hate each other!" he continues laughing in disbelief. "i can assure you chat, the only arguments we have is about me leaving the toilet seat up. we're all good here i can assure you that, y/n is out at the moment in the studio just writing another global hit song about me, what can i say i'm an inspiration these days" he sassily rolls his eyes.

“hey guys, welcome back to the bov boys channel! you might notice ginge’s face is looking a little more red today that’s because we have y/n in the building!” tays intros the video and the camera pans to you as everyone cheers. “and today we’re going to be putting their relationship to the test with a lie detector” chazza explains. “i’m so nervous” you say, head in your hands. “why? you got something to hide?” ginge says pretending to be serious. “well obviously not! but i know what these boys are like” you said and you were right to be nervous.

the boys sat on the sofa behind, feeding the polygraph examiner questions. you were both hooked up at the same time and after some calibrations, you were ready to go.

“do we go in hard or start easy?” heinz says. “i don’t think there’s really any easy ones” jakey laughs. “your first question is, are you only with each other for the fame and money?” “oh that’s easy” you say confidently. “yes” you answer, waiting a few seconds and receiving gasps and a wide jaw from ginge. the boys erupt in screams and laughter. the examiner gives you a thumbs down, “that’s a lie” and everyone lets out a sigh of relief. you turn to morgan, “did you really think i was being fucking serious?” you say laughing.

the game continued with more questions.

“have you ever cheated on each other?” thankfully that came back with nos and you both telling the truth.

“y/n, do you wish ginge didn’t stream as much?” one question aimed at you and you debated how to answer. “sometimes” you say and the polygraph examiner asks you for a yes or no. “yes” you say nervously, through gritted teeth. “for fuck sake daily mail gonna have a field day with that one” ginge sighs, half joking. “you’re telling the truth” you drop your head and turn to morgan, mouthing ‘sorry’. he turns to you, “don’t need to apologise, i get it” he smiles and you half smile back feeling slightly guilty.

the game continues with some more light hearted ones before the final question erupts the room. “have either of you ever faked an orgasm with the other person?” morgan immediately answers no. you on the other hand, were trying not to laugh. “why's she not answered?” jakey calls out. “surely not” heinz says, head in his hands, tension rising. “well come on” morgan turns to you now slightly nervous for your answer. “yes” you say, so quickly you hoped everyone would miss it. gasps are heard all round, morgan’s fair skin turning a luminous red. “‘kinell” morgan drops his head, sighing. “she’s telling the truth” the examiner says and the boys LOSE THEIR MINDS. you wish you could run away but you’re literally chained to a lie detector. “it was early days, it was early days” you try to clarify. “we’ll talk after” morgan says but you know he’s joking. he wasn’t offended he was more just upset you felt like that. “it was only once!” you felt the need to clarify and try not to embarrass him in front of the boys and half the internet. you cringed to yourself, “better than me saying no and it coming back a lie” you shrug.

the video wrapped up and morgan didn’t live it down for weeks…

we join y/n in a cafe in central manchester after she recalls a day of chaos 'filming with (her) boyfriend and his mates'. she sits down for an earnest chat about her upcoming record and a 'well overdue' life update for her fans.

y/n: i definitely haven't updated them or interacted with them as much as i should recently, so i know they're excited for lots of promo and things to come. (she laughs)

interviewer: do you find it hard to stay present in the 'so called real world 'when recording music?

y/n: definitely! i mean my days were 8 hours in the studio then coming back to the house and trying to sleep whilst my boyfriend is yelling in the other room.

interviewer: so you two live together?

y/n: sort of, i have a flat in london but was recording up in manchester so it kinda just made sense to move in, temporarily but my tenancy in london expires soon so we'll see.

interviewer: which do you prefer, manchester or london?

y/n: see. i have to be careful here otherwise i may not be allowed home tonight. moving to manchester, i definitely noticed a difference in the friendliness of people and the vibe of the city is much happier than london. and of course morgan is here, ew cringe. (she whispers that part) but london has been home for a while, so i'm undecided.

interviewer: your album is called 'where did you come from?' can you tell us the inspiration behind that?

y/n: yeah totally. it of course does relate to a particular person but to me it also relates to so many situations i've found myself in for the past couple years. like the opportunity to play a headline show in wembley stadium was crazy and it felt like it kind of came from nowhere. and it also relates to my mental health in some ways like i have a very overactive brain so sometimes a really negative thought will pop up and i'll kind of be like 'wow where did you come from?'.

interviewer: the person you're referring to, your boyfriend?

y/n: yes. (she replies shyly, giggling like a schoolgirl). i mean i did not go into the jungle expecting to meet someone i was going to fall deeply in love with. and it all just happened so intensely and so fast because we were literally with each other 24/7 but that's also like the best thing ever. when you're crushing on someone and you can feel it progressing you do want to spend all your time with them and i was so lucky i got to do that. and hopefully he feels the same.

interviewer: you spoke briefly there about your mental health, is this something you have struggled with for a while? is it featured on the album? tell us as much as you're comfortable with.

y/n: yeah, i struggle with OCD so it kind of reverts back to the intrusive thoughts thing. i struggle a lot with doubting myself and doubting other people's intentions and my brain just makes things up but it's been very helpful for me to keep people in my life that ground me. like i can always go to morgan and be like i'm having this crazy thought that you hate me or that i'm going to walk on stage and someone's going to jump me and he'll always hear me out and listen but also assure me that i'm being stupid at the same time and he's really good at keeping my brain in line.

rolling stone actually got in touch with angry ginge to surprise y/n with some words for her rolling stone cover debut.

"i'm so beyond proud of y/n for everything she's achieved and am so honoured to be considered her muse. she has managed to not only encapsulate the mutual feelings i have felt about our relationship but she also writes so honestly about her insecurities and mental struggles and i don't know she does it, she's so talented and i know she helps so many other people with her honesty and i just love her very much. she's my cover girl for sure."

morgan was on stream when you got the comment. "MORGAN" you yelled, running up the stairs and essentially body slamming your way into his streaming room door. he frantically pulls his headphones out thinking you've been robbed or hurt. "TAYLOR SWIFT JUST COMMENTED ON MY POST" you say, out of breath. "WHAT THE FUCK" morgan says slowly, enunciating every syllable. "show me" he says, turning to your phone. you show him the comment and he jumps off his chair, celebrating. he puts his arm around your shoulders and begins jumping up and down, "come onnnn" he yells and you join him, pumping the air. "you gotta get me in there now" he says. "free tickets, merch, the lot" he continues. "oh sorry yeah, let me just call my good friend taylor up" you say sarcastically.

as if by magic, the clip of your reaction goes viral and her team actually do send out some freebies to you and morgan and it makes his month, for once he's clout chasing off the back of someone else.

You don’t expect him to look nervous.

Excited, maybe. Tired. Jet-lagged. A bit smug about being back from America.

But not nervous.

You’re standing near arrivals, scrolling on your phone, when you hear your name.

You look up.

And there he is.

Hood up, travel bag slung over one shoulder, eyes scanning until they land on you.

He doesn’t wave. Doesn’t shout. Doesn’t do the cool walk-up.

He just drops his bag and pulls you into him properly.

Arms tight around your waist. Face buried in your neck. No space between you at all.

“You’re squeezing me,” you laugh softly.

“Yeah,” he mutters into your hair. “Stay there.”

He holds you longer than usual. Longer than is normal. His fingers grip the back of your hoodie like if he loosens them, you might disappear again.

When he finally pulls back, his hands don’t leave you.

He looks at your face like he’s checking you’re real.

“Hi,” you say.

“Hi,” he replies, quieter than you expected.

“Miss me?”

He exhales through his nose, trying to shrug it off. “America’s loud.”

“That’s not what I asked.”

He stares at you for a second longer.

“Yeah,” he says simply. “I did.”

The clinginess starts immediately.

In the car, his hand rests on your thigh the entire ride. Thumb moving absentmindedly like he needs contact.

If you shift, he adjusts with you.

If you move his hand, it finds its way back.

“You’ve been back ten minutes,” you tease.

“I’ve been gone weeks,” he replies. “Let me live.”

When you get inside, he doesn’t even take his shoes off properly before he’s wrapping his arms around you again from behind.

You’re trying to make tea.

He’s attached to your waist.

“You can sit down,” you tell him.

“No.”

“You’re jet-lagged.”

“Don’t care.”

His chin rests on your shoulder. His hands slide under your hoodie just enough to feel your skin, warm and grounding.

You turn slightly to look at him. His eyes are half-lidded, tired but calm.

“You okay?” you ask.

He nods against you.

“Just missed you.”

You try to walk to the living room.

He follows.

You sit down.

He sits right next to you.

When you shift to grab the remote, he pulls you back by the wrist gently.

“Where are you going?”

“I’m still here.”

“Yeah. Sit properly.”

“Properly?”

“With me.”

So you sit. And he immediately drags you into his lap like that’s the obvious solution.

“You’re heavy,” you say.

“Rude.”

But his arms tighten around you anyway.

His face presses into your neck again. He inhales like he’s memorising your scent.

“You didn’t FaceTime enough,” he mumbles.

“You were out every night.”

“Yeah, but it’s not the same.”

He hated sleeping alone.

He hated waking up and not reaching for you.

He hated that weird time difference where you were living your day and he was finishing his.

The entire day goes like that.

You try to go to the bathroom he waits outside the door.

You try to tidy something he follows you room to room.

At one point you stop in the hallway and turn around, almost colliding into him.

“Why are you actually glued to me?”

He looks down at you like it’s obvious.

“Because I’ve been in a different country.”

“For a few weeks.”

“Exactly.”

You roll your eyes, but you can’t stop smiling.

Later, when you’re both lying on the sofa, he pulls you so close you can barely move.

“You’re suffocating me.”

“No I’m not.”

“You are.”

“Good.”

You laugh, but his arms don’t loosen.

Your fingers drift into his hair and he melts instantly. Actually melts. His breathing slows. His grip softens but doesn’t leave.

“You’re not going anywhere tomorrow, are you?” he asks quietly.

“I live here.”

“Yeah, but like… anywhere.”

You tilt your head. “Are you scared I’m going to America now?”

He huffs lightly, but there’s something real underneath it.

“I just don’t like being away from you.”

Just presses his forehead against your collarbone and tightens his arms again.

You wrap yourself around him properly this time.

“I’m not going anywhere,” you tell him.

He nods slightly.

“Good.”

And even hours later, when you’re getting into bed, he pulls you close again leg tangled with yours, arm draped across your waist, fingers laced with yours under the blanket.

Usually he shifts away after a bit.

Tonight he doesn’t.

If you move even slightly, his grip tightens instinctively.

You whisper, “You’re clingy.”

He murmurs sleepily, “Shut up.”

But he presses a kiss to your shoulder.

And even as he drifts off, he stays wrapped around you like he’s making up for every second he couldn’t be.

The relationship between the two of you was once never tainted by anything, now it seems every little thing causes a screaming match. He wanted nothing more than to be able to pull you in after a long day and tell you how much he loves and misses you. However, if either of you looks at the other in a way that is even the slightest distasteful, one is you either be sleeping the guest bedrooms, or someone ends up on the couch.

Chris grew up in a home where everything was damn near perfect for him, loving, adoring, and gentle was the only home life he ever knew. You, not so much, having seen the way your parents treated each other from a young age instilled something in you, something you never wanted to be but somehow you ended up just like them.

Another night with the two of you sat in your car, you turned toward him in the parking lot of his office. His eyes refused to meet your own as you blew up about something stupidly nitpicky, "Fucking look at me," you seethe, forcing him to do so.

He refuses to let any emotion seep from his features, keeping his face stone-scold, adjusting his jaw as he bites his tongue. It took every ounce of self-control he possessed not to rush back in the doors of the building, leave you here crying alone, and ask around for a ride and a place to stay for the night until you cool off.

Chris is not violent and never has been, but he wants nothing more than to feel the plastic of your dashboard crumble beneath his fist.

He's so tired of trying, but it's you. How's he supposed to let go when he's never done life without you? As cliche as it is, you both went to the same school your entire lives, and you've been practically attached at the hip since early on. "What," he asks, it comes out in a broken whisper, now he's really feeling his throat burn with the tears he's fighting off with every fiber of his being.

Your mouth moves but his mind doesn't even begin to register any of the words spilling from it. He's exhausted from filming and meetings, thanking the high heavens when you scoff, turn away from him, and throw the vehicle into drive. The whole way home he pretty much can feel the heat radiating off your form, he silently observes the clenching and unclenching of your jaw.

Despite the unexplained anger riddling your features, he sees right through you to the young girl who hates arguments or yelling due to years of having to put up with it at your parents' expense. When you pull the key from the ignition you feel his stare burning a hole through the side of your head and when you turn to look at him his eyes are filled with what you think is utterly undeserved admiration.

You look away, no matter how long you've been around each other; you always shy away from him. He watches you shove the keys into your pocket and look out for any cars before walking to the door.

He steps out behind you, watching you walk into the apartment building without a second glance in his direction. He hears your car horn honk as the doors lock; he follows, grabbing the door, practically forcing himself forward. Chris pauses, taking many deep breaths, not wanting to invade your space too much. He can hear you shuffling about just on the other side.

"I just think maybe I should go." Based on how harsh your words are, they should definitely be spoken with way more confidence than they are. Instead of them sounding firm, all Chris hears is uncertainty. "No," is all he can muster. He continues, "I'm not just going to let you walk out over something so silly."

"Glad you think it's silly, Chris." He shakes his head, stepping closer to you. When you attempt to back away from him, he stops you with a firm hold on your elbow, making sure it's not so tight it may cause any discomfort, but just enough that you realize the weight of the situation. "Darling, you know that's not what I mean." his voice is soft, and you can't help but wonder if this fight was for nothing. At this point, you don't even remember what you were arguing over.

You feel yourself visibly deflate. He steps even closer now, taking quick notice of how your eyes shift to find your mismatched socks. An immovable lump forms in your throat, and the all-too-familiar feeling of panic sets in. Chris, ever so attentive and kind, cupped your face, "You're alright, sweet girl. 'm not upset with you." He's nodding, trying to convince not just you but himself that everything will be okay.

He refuses to loosen his grip on you as your shoulders shake with the sobs that are beginning to escape you. "Take a breath, love." He follows his words with a deep inhalation, instructing you to do the same. Your exhale is almost as shaky as your hands that are fisting his hoodie.

A whisper escapes you in the midst of your trying to calm yourself down, but Chris doesn't quite catch it, he tilts your head up from its place on his chest, finding your tear-soaked cheeks which if his heart wasn't breaking before its in a million little pieces now, his brows raise with expectation, silently asking you to repeat your statement, and you do, "'m sorry, this is so stupid."

"Just a bit, yes. Do you even remember what you were upset about?" You don't have to respond; the sheepish grin on your face tells him everything he needs to know. "How about we watch some Temptation Island to make you feel better?" His suggestion makes you laugh, you both damn well that wouldn't be your first choice, but his love for the drama overpowers yours tenfold.

"Is that for me or you?" He shrugs, picking you up bridal style, walking in the direction of your bedroom, "It's a reward for putting up with you." You scoff, fist colliding with his shoulder, and he drops you onto the mattress.

His smile is contagious as your finger waves in his face, "Shut your stupid little mouth and grow, troll." his body weight is suddenly on you, dead weight holding you down. "You know I'm only joking."
