A conversation with researcher and surgeon Amy Lightner, MD
Flared so bad i'm back on meds. Good news is that I started taking these last Friday and I already feel 100% better! Night and day. Just gotta build my strength back up. Huzzah for western medicine! 🙌 So now that my 8 year "drug holiday" is over, I'll aim to find a complimentary balance between between natural and medical management so my remissions can be longer and flares can be less intense. I'm energized, grateful and aching to get the next yoga series started. Literally! Laying around in recovery takes a toll on your back! Thank you for your kind wishes while I was down. I'm back and feeling better than ever!
Thank you all for your kind wishes yesterday! I'm doing better energy-wise and worse pain-wise, but this is going to have it's good days and bad days. In comparison, I'd say this is a good day. So even though I'm still resting to heal I'll try to catch up on that laundry and do some gentle yoga to relieve my belly and achy back from laying around so much. Question: What do you do when you need to rest an recover? Naps and Netflix are getting a little old 😜
We've got friends in town this weekend and I'll be sober and eating crazy clean & low fiber throughout the festivities to heal this raging UC flare. Luckily my friends are the kind of people who bring me @drinktruce all the way from Minneapolis, MN! They'll shoot fireball tonight and I'll be sipping on fresh juice. I'm feeling pretty grateful right now, despite my colon's attitude.
I take many different probiotics for my general health but this is the one that is always on my shelf! Saccharomyces Boulardii capsules (SBC) are my staple during Ulcerative Colitis flare ups and they keep me healthy during remissions. I’ve noticed a significant change for the better in my …ahem… bowel movements since I started taking these and I recommend them to anyone with digestive issues. Seriously though, (insert happy poop emoticon)
