another chapter of my greed lives au is out! greed decided to be stubborn in this one and NOT return to resembool like he was supposed to. but it worked out great for his character development, so i can't really be mad.

Greed talked.  There was no one to lend a listening ear, but he pretended that the drinks he poured really did belong to his crew. He told them everything that had happened to him in the time that he had been gone—about meeting Ling, traveling with him and Ed and Darius and Heinkel, and about traveling to Xing and becoming its emperor.  “There's a princess there that doesn't take anyone's shit, Martel,” he said to the cup that would have been Martel. “You would have liked her—though she's an empress now.” Dolcetto heard all about the weapons, there, and Ulchi heard all about the women. To Roa, Greed described what he imagined would happen if he had ever met Lan Fan—it would have been entertaining, having both of them dramatically standing behind him when he had to listen to other clans giving him stupid requests and complaints.  But to Bido… Even with Bido's cup full, Greed couldn't find the words. He was the only one of his crew that hadn't died here, and the only one of them that had directly been his fault. It was strange, realizing that. They would have all still been alive if Greed hadn't decided to hold Alphonse Elric hostage that day, but it was Bido alone who had directly died at his hand.  Greed didn't finish his own drink.

aw tysm <3 I definitely have way too many thoughts about them rotating in my head constantly, let's see what we can grab today

one of the things that I actually really like from 03 is Greed busting out the chimeras when he's breaking himself out of the lab, so even though it doesn't exactly line up with what we're given in mangahood canon i like to hc something similar having happened anyways! (gonna be a lil vague because this loops back to a fic I'm writing a bit) "guy who's been locked up for who knows how long and isn't all there mentally's first instinct being to save people when all he can think about is needing to get out" does something to me yk

the chimeras having different sorts of chronic pain issues from being experimented on is so real to me that I forget it's not canon. I will die on the hill that Dolcetto's arm bands are actually braces to support his wrists. Greed catches any of them overdoing it when they're having a bad pain day and he will personally drag them off to bed whether they're in the middle of a conversation or work or anything. This is regular taking care of your possessions behaviour and not him being worried about his friends thank you very much

Roa just has the Vibes that he does most of the cooking for their group, but Greed definitely does quite a bit too (mostly when he can use excuses like "I'm the only one who can't get sick so I might as well be the one to make food" when there's something going around, or "Well I made this for Me because I need to eat all the finest things but I happened to make enough for everyone and being greedy means not letting things go to waste so you better have some" -guy who won't admit to himself or anyone else that everything he wants for himself is for them too)

Dolcetto being the main bouncer! most people would probably expect it to be Roa or Ulchi but he's a damn good guard dog thank you (being able to smoke more because he's outside the entrance is a bonus too) I don't have too specific hc's for what most of the others do during working hours other than Martel working the bar, but I kinda see Ulchi as dealing with fights that break out inside when he's not part of them himself (Roa helps with those ones it's ok)

Devil's Nest Gang: Greed the Avaricious, Roa, Bido, Martel, Dolcetto, Ulchi, & more

Devil’s Nest Gang:

semi-immortal homunculus fleeing his terrible family. the handful of government experiments he rescued from a lab to be his minions. the various humans, cast out by society, who came to work for him under his protection. the tragedy that they all faced in the end together, protecting each others backs until the end, and the realization after all was said and done that a group of close friends was all he ever wanted... greed and his chimeras are THE found family of all time. fma is full of family relationships, both biological and not, but theres something especially resonant to me about greed escaping his birth family and finding kinship in the shadows with his fellow outcasts, all of whom love him just the way he is. something something lgbt metaphor. they dont get much time on screen but their impact on the series is huge, and in particular bidos undying loyalty to greed is what brings back his memories after hes been "purified" and winds up setting the scene for the entire final battle. there is so much sadness but so much love. all of them would and Did die for one another. roa and dolcetto sacrificing themselves for martel, martel dying in a last-ditch bid to avenge them, bido dying out of trust in greed even after everything about the situation should have told him not to, greed eventually dying to save his NEW friends... they make me cry! do you ever lay in a puddle of your own tears and think about a bunch of furries at a gay bar. i do.

FINALLY DONE WITH THESE..... had a huge slump partway through and couldnt get the motivation and then when i Did finish it i had problems exporting the canvas but. at last. devils nest homunculi au is complete

the gist of the au is (obviously) that the named members of the devils nest are homunculi instead of chimeras. cant decide whether theyre still government experiments or were made directly by father, but either way, they run across a shark chimera (greed) (design pending) who befriends them and they all ditch their overlords together

info on individual character concepts under the cut!!

PRIDE/BLONDIE: a homunculus who presents himself as being cool, logical and emotionless. when he displays any strong emotion his true form emerges, a huge armored beast with enormous claws. his ouroboros tattoo is on the back of his right hand.

LUST/ULCHI: basically just the same guy as always. big, loud, and horny on main. but despite his appearance, he has a sensitive side. has superhuman strength and stamina even taking his philosophers stone into account.

GREED/DOC: dogged in his pursuit of knowledge and new experiences, greed is the most vocal skeptic of their assigned purpose, for which pride resents him. when he removes his glasses hes able to hypnotize anyone into telling him anything they know.

ENVY/BIDO: a homunculus who sneaks around in the shadows using his power to turn his body invisible. hes self-conscious of how inhuman he looks, and being around the others exacerbates those feelings, so he often goes off on his own, which is how he finds the shark chimera. his ouroboros tattoo is on the palm of his right hand.

GLUTTONY/DOLCETTO: the most dangerous homunculus. when he's on the hunt, he'll devour anything in his path without a second thought. he has an inhumanly keen sense of smell and hearing, but poor eyesight. his ouroboros tattoo is on his tongue.

SLOTH/ROA: the strong silent type. he takes his sweet time getting things done, which frustrates his fellow homunculi. hes able to find the weak points in any material using his hammer. his ouroboros tattoo is on his back.

WRATH/MARTEL: the most skilled fighter of the group, able to wield any blade with ease. all her weapons are coated in a deadly toxin. she uses her strength to protect her fellow homunculi, and she'll fly into a rage if any harm comes to them. her ouroboros tattoo is on the roof of her mouth.
