For the blorbo ask game: 4, 5, 7 and 19!
Thanks for the ask! We're gonna answer all of these blorbo asks the same with sections for each of the main games!
4. What’s the thing you love the most about your Blorbo?
I think I like that out of all of them, Togami's the most meticulous puzzle to figure out, y'know? Like, a lot of the others wear their Thing, their Message on their sleeve, but Togami is kind of a blank slate and easiest to fall for the facade because for the most part he presents nothing BUT the facade. That makes him fun to puzzle out and very open to headcanon interpretation.
For Kamukura, I am enthralled by the tragedy of what was done to him. He was born into a world of monotony due to his Talent purely to be used by others as the Ultimate Hope, leaving him listless and trained not to care about anything. I also really like the potential for his dynamic with Hinata as a system.
Komaeda's ideology FASCINATES me. I want to study him under a microscope. The dovetail of trauma and illness and a supernatural level cycle of Luck all culminating in this obsessive-compulsive nightmare is tragically beautiful and I want him to have a happy life without compromising his beliefs.
Amami-chan very much ticks all the boxes on my big brother complex. He's so sweet and caring (to the people he actually cares about at least) and chill, but more than that I just love how bizarrely relaxed he is about literally any situation??? Like, he's very much pretending to be normal and as a result overcorrects in to acting normal in the most abnormal situations ("You guys get kidnapped too? ^^" I've already referenced but just how calm and collected he is in general compared to everyone else despite having NO memory of the previous killing game). And then at the most random time's he'll come out and say the most inane shit and I love that for him (suddenly theorizing that the mass amnesia is brainwashing or hypnosis or some shit was wild and yet also kind of correct! Also obsessed over his comment in DRS that he shouldn't be given a weapon like what????).
Ouma is just me and I love that about him. I love his ideology less in the Komaeda sense of study and more in the sense I understand and agree with it completely.
5. What’s the thing you dislike the most about your Blorbo?
Togami is so unwavering in his facade that I feel like most people look at him and write him off as one-note and superficial and then even those who like him still cater to the facade and it makes me feel like a conspiracy theorist.
I don't know if I necessarily dislike anything about Kamukura himself, but I do think that he was mishandled a bit in canon as a plot device for Hinata's development and nothing else. Dehumanized even by the narrative smh...
Komaeda I don't really have an grievances with as a character, he is truly fascinating. I guess as a person, though, I want him to allow himself the grace of existing without constantly dehumanizing and ridiculing himself.
I could never hate anything about Amami-chan!!! Although it would have been nice if he hadn't DIED FIRST, GOD... I would have loved to see his dynamic with Ouma I was DEPRIVED!
Ouma is just me and I hate that about him also lmao. He has issues with opening up to others without an insane amount of trust and even then he has a complex of taking care of others at his own detriment because of his Talent and I'm like ha. Me too. Stop holding a mirror up to my mirror.
7. What’s the one thing the fandom gets wrong about your Blorbo?
9 times out of 10 they fell for the facade that was meant to be dismantled by the viewer and as a result a lot of stuff for Togami just seems... really superficial ngl.
They follow the lead of the narrative and dehumanize Kamukura to a mere plot device for the sake of Hinata's development.
They hopepill Komaeda to the point of memery on par with the DR3 anime without really understanding anything about how his ideology or Luck works.
They mistake Amami-chan's chill vibe and INDUCED amnesia for being a genuinely forgetful sleepy ditz. Usually this leads to an abundance of memes about him being a stoner and while I do think he would do weed, I feel like he'd be into WAY harder shit that just that personally, but that's headcanon territory.
Most points of contention with Ouma are rooted in this belief that there is no one right way to interpret him, that he's the embodiment of lies and all that. And while that's cool in theory, I'm of the mindset that yes, there is an intended reading I think, but I feel like most people would call me reductive for saying so.
19. When it comes to Blorbos, do you have a type?
-looks at the lineup of all three rival characters plus the most unhingedly casual guy imaginable ("Hey, did you guys get kidnapped too? ^^" lives rent-free in my head), half of which we headcanon with ASPD- Yeah, I guess you could say that!
