im gonna stick to the first chapter of this fic for my answers bc i dont remember it as well as i wish i did and feel like probably i shouldnt reread the whole thing at 2am. looking at it tho i realized i hadnt updated it in a year and... bro thats so fuckin sad. i miss her

as such im not sticking to one line for either question. woe get a whole dang paragraph. i guess

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

honestly, i think some of the strongest lines in that fic are the openers, but really, every single sleep fact / life series pair was really good imo. they were my fave part of the fic

A hypnic jerk, also known as a sleep start, is a small, sudden, and involuntary startle which one experiences while in the process of falling asleep. It is often accompanied by the phantom sensation of falling from a great height, the would-be sleeper forced into wakefulness at the moment of simulated impact. Hypnic jerks are not uncommon and entirely benign, experienced regularly by well over half the population with no ill effects. 

When Grian starts awake after jumping off the edge of Monopoly Mountain, his experience is not at all like that. 

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

hmmm. i said id stick to ch1. of the ch1 dialogue, probably this exchange?

“Scar,” Grian asks, “What did you dream about?”

“Nothing. Not that I remember, at least,” Scar says, and Grian thinks killing him hurt less. “Grian, are you alright?”

i just liked how indirect grian is being w scar and how very direct hes being w the reader in the narration. this whole exchange was super fun to write, i wish id gotten to do more w scar before i swapped gears focus-wise and became a treebark guy,

Loving the concept of Tubbo and Scar having a tentative friendship arc as Tubbo learns more about Hermitcraft. I think Tubbo would find Scar to be trustworthy, perhaps even a bit familiar in a way?

(I find Scar’s mannerisms and humor to be somewhat similar to Ranboo’s. I imagine Tubbo feels drawn to Scar, but also a bit confused. He wonders how Scar ended up being the mayor at all? He certainly doesn’t act like a leader- at least, not the kind of leader Tubbo knows.)

I think that while it was all initially for the sake of an alliance between the two nations- and Tubbo still wonders what it is they see in his nation? Why does this grand and prosperous server want anything to do with his home? Surely they’ve heard about what happens on the Dream SMP- I think that Scar would end up wanting to get to actually know Tubbo. To know who Tubbo is. Not Mayor Tubbo of L’Manburg, not Tubbo, Ambassador of the Dream SMP, but Tubbo, the kid who’s seen way more than any kid should ever see. The kid who’s looked hell in the eyes and barely made it out alive.

But it’s not just that. Scar knows that this Tubbo kid has clearly gone though a lot, but he can also see so much more to him. Scar can see Tubbo’s muted passion for all the huge bases littered around Hermitcraft. He can see Tubbo’s curiosity about all the crazy farms and redstone contraptions that have become Scar’s day to day life. He thinks, maybe if Tubbo were a bit more comfortable here, then he would be able to really show his true colors.

I agree that Scar and Ranboo are actually kind of similar though I would have never thought of that on my own. In particular the way they do kind of lame pranks (like puns, like Scar naming his easter eggs and putting them in obvious places because it's funnier). Everyone likes to write stupid shit on signs and leave them at people's bases. It's like, the most harmless kind of prank and an easy way to break down the walls of the tense kid-ambassador. Also think Tubbo would be a fan of those pranks that require basically doing a whole build for the meme. Maybe not a huge perpetrator of them but he'd think they're neat.

The very first thing Scar thinks when he sees Tubbo is sad. Just everything about him is kind of sad, but he's on Hermitcraft now which means Hermit rules which means it's time to do something fun. Like, immediately. Anything at all to get this kid to look less miserable. Politicians golf, right? They don't have golf but they could go place some minigames! (Highly unsettling to Tubbo, by the way, but he would learn to love them once it was clear they weren't disguised death traps.)

Scar drags him a lot of places that an ambassador doesn't necessarily need to visit: basically every Hermit's base, every shop, some of the farms, and so on. A full tour! with souvenirs! (No contraband, though.) All in a loose attempt to get Tubbo to maybe not stick to the ambassador role so closely.

Sidenote: Doc and Tubbo would get on really well. I feel this in my bones. Tubbo would be really into Doc's game breaking stuff.
