Help guys, I just finished heat of the everflame and I've seen all the hate online, and I don't disagree with most of it, but I feel like what bothered me the most in the book isn't being talked about in any of the discussions? Maybe I missed and explanation because it is driving me crazy.

How does Zalaric and the rest of the half mortals have their powers on Umbros? Zalaric is a lumnos descended. Diem feels how powerful he is right away, and we know he's been training all the half mortals....but until Diem messed up the foraging magic he shouldn't have been able to access his magic unless he was on lumnos, right? What did miss? 😂
