Unattended || Nikolai & Margot

Distracted.

Margot had not expected to be this distracted and leave Nikolai basically unattended for this long, but her conversations with her friends had taken longer than she had expected. Looking back, the brunette realized she probably should’ve just taken Nik around for a round of introductions instead. A definite mistake on her part that she would apologize for. Glancing at the time, she detached herself from the conversation she was having with the group that consisted of her colleagues and students shadowing her and went on the hunt for her date. He wasn’t easy to spot, seeing as he was wearing a darker-colored suit, but she knew Nik well enough that he was probably going to be on the outskirts of the party rather than the inside, and no surprise, she spotted him as she’d expected. “Doctor Kovacs,” A smirk graced her lips as she snaked an arm around his waist, gentle enough that he hopefully wouldn’t be startled. “Are you not enjoying the view of the party or the view of me?” She teased him, hoping to replace his brooding features with a smile. “I do apologize for leaving you though, would it be okay if I introduced you to at least some of my closer friends?” Margot turned serious, wanting to communicate to him that it would be absolutely fine if didn’t feel like it.
