So, it's about a week later, and, I think I'm finally ready to word-vomit to the Internet about Ramen. It's definitely fixable. But there's going to be a lot of saving the department from itself involved, and I don't know how receptive it's going to be to the attempts of myself and another of the MODs to do so. There's a lot of pretty crippling nepotism (even for a con) involved at the management level, and that's got to be sorted through with a lot of delicacy. A lot of what's coming is going to involve some bridges being burned, bridges that, if this department is going to thrive and evolve, *need* to be burned. Changes are coming, and change can be scary, especially when one talks about streamlining a department's operations so we're not staffing a ~1500 person convention with 50 security, close to 60 if you count the MODs and the Commanders. So, we're kind of overstaffed for a con this size.
On the positive side of things, my dispatch team kicked ass and took names. I am immensely proud of all 7 of them, and thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart for coming to help me out in getting the process started. This isn't going to be easy. It's probably going to involve several pains in the neck, the ass, and the dick, but it's doable, and I know that it is because I had a phenomenal team at my side and at my back.
So, to all of you who dispatched at Ramen, and all those who came on last-minute when I got you the application, thank you.
