Post RamenCon Thing
So, it's about a week later, and, I think I'm finally ready to word-vomit to the Internet about Ramen. It's definitely fixable. But there's going to be a lot of saving the department from itself involved, and I don't know how receptive it's going to be to the attempts of myself and another of the MODs to do so. There's a lot of pretty crippling nepotism (even for a con) involved at the management level, and that's got to be sorted through with a lot of delicacy. A lot of what's coming is going to involve some bridges being burned, bridges that, if this department is going to thrive and evolve, *need* to be burned. Changes are coming, and change can be scary, especially when one talks about streamlining a department's operations so we're not staffing a ~1500 person convention with 50 security, close to 60 if you count the MODs and the Commanders. So, we're kind of overstaffed for a con this size.
On the positive side of things, my dispatch team kicked ass and took names. I am immensely proud of all 7 of them, and thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart for coming to help me out in getting the process started. This isn't going to be easy. It's probably going to involve several pains in the neck, the ass, and the dick, but it's doable, and I know that it is because I had a phenomenal team at my side and at my back. So, to all of you who dispatched at Ramen, and all those who came on last-minute when I got you the application, thank you.

Just finished prep for Jenetic and Van's Super-Awesome Cosplay Adventure.
Now for sleep and in the morning, off to RamenCon.
All these other Operatives going to work RamenCon. And I'm just sitting here eating cupcakes and playing Deus Ex.
Pre-RamenCon Final
Alright. Just about time to sleep. Ramen departure in, a little under 12 hours. I need to do this. I've come so far in my efforts to fix this convention. I can't stop now. I can't let all the...everything, get in my way. There's a lot of ick, a lot of bad taste in my mouth about some other stuff, but it has to take a backseat. Time to see if I've really got it, or if all the disdain, all the claims I've been wasting my time, were valid. When everything is said and done, I swear I'm gonna make it right. I know I can win. I've done it before. Get outta my way...I gotta settle this score. One. Last. Time.
Pre-RamenCon Thing
So, RamenCon is coming up. For those of you that know me well, you know that the planning process has been a big ol' pile of fuck, and it's driving me up the wall. It's been a pain in the ass, and myself and one of the other MODs have spent the entire planning season essentially trying to fix the department and save it from itself. Some of my nearest and dearest in the con security world may wonder why I bother trying to save something that's such a giant pain in the dickhole, and, frankly, the answer lies mostly in my dispatch team. To that end, I've started kicking around the idea of trying to make a personalized recording for each of the seven of them and hit them with it pre-con, because I hand-selected every single one of them, and I couldn't be prouder of my team for not being any part of all the drama and the bullshit this security team has been plagued with since con ended last year. I know that announcing the idea of personalizing a "You're Awesome" set is kind of attention-whorey, but it seemed like a cool idea. Thoughts?
