The way the animators and voice actor of Levi portrayed his reunion with Kenny pretty much solidifies the notion that Levi truly cared for Kenny. He still had a crack in his heart from when Kenny abandoned him all those years ago. Then, years later, when word finally gets out about the man, it’s because he’s targeting the hit on Levi’s head. Not to mention, he pretends things are peachy keen and their encounter is just strictly business, when they finally meet.
Oh, Levi was beyond pissed.
The scene where Kenny dies will definitely be 10x more bittersweet than it was in the manga. Kenny wasn’t the greatest role model, but he raised Levi well - that he did.
