I know that this scene is a repeat from the last scene of the previous Uncanny X-Men comic that I already covered, but I love this splash page so much that I had to include it. This is some gothey, demoney, I’ve transformed my in-laws into leg clinging sex imps shit going on here and it’s awesome. And how metal is it that this all takes place in Nebraska. I always loved these large expositional splash pages where each character is labeled like a toy commercial. It really helps a kid out when they can’t buy every issue or even remember who all these weird motherfuckers are when there’s scene like this and it’s like… who’s this disco looking Silver Surfer motherfucker in the middle right there. Also, this is the second title page for this comic. How many comics have two title pages?? (Uncanny X-Men #241 – Feb 1989)

I don’t know how I got away with buying this comic book as a kid. I wasn’t allowed to buy G.I. Joes or play Contra because they were too violent and I wasn’t allowed to talk to girls because I might get pregnant and I wasn’t allowed to go to the arcade because I would get molested and do drugs but this comic here about a bdsm witch and her satan worshipping baby sacrifices was a-ok apparently. I think my mom just never actually took a good look at the shit I was reading or it all would have gone in the gasoline bucket. (Uncanny X-Men #241 – Feb 1989)

Like, his eye sparkles up and he gets real determined and then a fucking bucket drops on his head and he falls in front of a bus. Because I am that mutant and that’s my mutant power. Back to a final post from Uncanny X-Men #241, since X-Terminators #4 and New Mutants #72, as well as X-Factor #37, take place during this X-Men comic, and since N’astirh got infected with the transmode virus and turned red in the middle of all this shit. In the span of this X-Men comic, N’astirh fully opened the demon portal between Earth and Limbo, battled the X-Terminators and New Mutants to keep it open (and lost), battled S’ym for control of the demon army, and fought Magik for her soul after she turned fully into the Darkchylde. Then he runs back to Madelyne in time to see her overpower Mr. Sinister and return her baby to her. Talk about a busy errand day!! If I have to find time to get my oil changed during a work day I pretty much shit my pants and go into a fugue state for about 4 hours. Anyway. HOLY SHIT. Madelyne frees herself and flat out overpowers Mr. Sinister and she is finally reunited with her baby Nathan who was stolen from her 20 issues ago. The junior teams of mutants may have succeeded in closing the portal between Earth and Limbo, but all the interesting Inferno shit is just starting to happen. Including the teams of X-Men old and new about to finally confront each other for the first time after the resurrection of Jean Grey. Where’s the popcorn!!! (Uncanny X-Men #241 – Feb 1989)

The X-Men and the Marauders have already had 2 really big knock down drag out battles, but this one that takes place during the demon Inferno of New York City is uniquely awesome and breaks up the action with a lot of random chaos. It reminds me of a video game skirmish from Halo or Farpoint where multiple enemy factions can turn on each other during a big battle. And these Judge Dread / Half-life 2 demon cops look awesome. If only one of them could step on Havok while he’s having one of his obnoxiously masturbatory wank fests about how he only ever falls in love with evil girls and how much his nipples hurt. It isn’t explained AT ALL, but for some reason, throughout the course of this battle with the Marauders, the Uncanny X-Men become enchanted and corrupted by the demon Inferno from Limbo and they all turn wicked. It doesn’t really make any sense because as we’ve seen during this massive crossover, nearly every superhero from the Marvel Universe is out in the streets beating back the invading demon army, including X-Factor and the New Mutants, the X-Men’s mutant counterparts, and yet only the X-Men turn murderous and evil. But regardless of the reason why, I absolutely love this plot twist. Each evil member of the X-Men looks completely bad assed, as their faces turn black, their clothes rip apart, and their hair and masks turn into the visages of demon horns. Such an awesome element to an already creepy story. This would make such a good movie. Also, that "trouble" Wolvie just got a wiff of? Welp, that's only a hint at the biggest confrontation I've been waiting for ever since Jean died. (Uncanny X-Men #241 – Feb 1989)

The character arc of this possessed mailbox plays out in its entirety in this X-Men comic. See this is terrifying because you can’t do shit to this mailbox even if it’s biting your girlfriend’s arm off because it’s government property. This is just like if there was a possessed bed mattress in your house trying to eat your cat. You couldn’t do shit to it because of those tags with the federal warnings on them. You’d just have to live with it and try to stay out of the bedroom I guess. Shows you what a god damned bad assed anarchist Wolverine is because he doesn’t give a fuck about federal easements.
