Saudi Contribution to UN Counter-Terrorism Efforts
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia recently announced a $100 million contribution for United Nations counter-terrorism efforts. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's spokesperson issued a statement on Wednesday 7 August 2013 expressing appreciation, and noting that the contribution will strengthen effective implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy through the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) and other relevant UN bodies.
Mr. Ban also reaffirmed his commitment to continue to work with all Member States through relevant UN counter-terrorism bodies to strengthen the international community's efforts to combat the global scourge of terrorism.
