Compared to the rest of his brothers, Repton is a Very Average Guy by raptor standards. If it weren't for his temperament and leadership, he wouldn't stand out all that much against the rest of his people. Leugey has venom, Hoerk bites like a crocodile, and Spitz is a masterful swimmer. Repton got all the attitude.

Tell us about an OC you haven't posted about yet. What do you have in the works?

OOOOOOoooooooo oh my god my favourite question ever eeeeeeeeee :’D

I have so many story and character ideas it’s honestly hard to choose ;u;

I have one story/comic idea that just sort of hit me back in May of 2018, and it’s turning out to be something quite different from what I normally do, from a stylistic standpoint at least. It’ll probably be easier to talk about the idea as a whole rather than just one character from it, but I’ll still focus on the two mains.(I’m gonna put it under the cut because I get wordy when I talk about my OCs, hehe)

Soooooo this is Demon Exchange! What you’re seeing here is a sort of header thing I made while coming up with stuff, namely the use of the logo and the slogan in relation to the characters, where “deal with” is a synonym for “tolerate”, rather than the typical meaning. On the left is Alex, a college freshman going to school to become a youth therapist, and on the right is Eva, the titular demon “exchange student” sent from Hell to maintain the agreement between it and the surface world. Eva is not your average demon however, caring very little for wreaking havoc and settling for bothering Alex instead. The story follows how these two deal with being roommates and having separate reactions to the bizarre situations they’re in, forming an unlikely friendship. I imagine it would be primarily “episodic” comics with a few longer story arcs sprinkled in, but overall the story is that simple. I have a few heavier topics they touch upon here and there but overall it’s about as lighthearted and silly as you’d expect.As a description that does sound pretty basic (and it is), but it’s more about the characters playing off each other than anything. The idea of a demon and a college student is definitely nothing new, but for me it was one of those times where new ideas were flowing like crazy; the names, the characters, the scenarios, the logo, you name it. And I fell in love with it! Before I knew it I had another seedling of a story idea, and that’s one of my favourite parts of the creative process. :D

Eva is very much an embodiment of the dry snark and sarcasm I’ve obtained over the years (and my depression moods too honestly), while Alex is the resident Good Boy™ who is trying his best. They say OCs are an extension of yourself and that’s definitely the case here. Their dynamic hits home pretty quickly for me.

Eva has a full design, Alex only has a half-made one so far (I’m sorry my boy I promise I’ll get to you soon ;;;;;;;;;  )

I’m still working out the treatment of the line art, but it will be similar to what you see here in terms of the line weight, texture, and having looser lines overall. As you can see this deviates quite a bit from my normal style of art with clean, sharp, gapless lines, and usually an exorbitant amount of colour. Right now this is more akin to my rough line character sheets, but even then the lack of colour is still a big jump. If this does become a comic in the future it would be my first story ever done in greyscale. There’s a lot of firsts here actually!The only character I’ve posted from this previously is Lulu, Alex’s cat. I had drawn her design and wanted to post it at the time, and I figured a cat was ambiguous enough even with the style difference. She’s a sweetie, and Alex loves her to death. c’:

Either way this is still very much in the development stage as most of my other story ideas are. I’m going through a transition point in my life at the moment, not the least of which being my move out of Toronto, so I’ll have a better idea of what my project goals are once that happens and my life (hopefully) settles down a bit. It’s been a rough few years. x_x

I haven’t been very vocal about this project until now because I’m not sure how I want to approach the structure of the story itself. And to be perfectly honest I’m a bit scared it’ll come out of left field with what else I’m working on right now / what people expect to see from my art. ;u; That doesn’t make me love it any less but it’s definitely a stark contrast to everything else I’ve made, but maybe that’s a good thing? I enjoy the simplicity of the concept a lot, and I think it will be an interesting way to talk about some of my college experiences too. I have those experiences sprinkled into this and a few other stories I have in the pipeline, though this one is a more exaggerated take on the roommate / living in residence experience specifically.

I’ll be continuing with Starglass Zodiac as my bigger ongoing / weekly project, while my work on Moth to the Flame is my smaller one that I hope will come to fruition in some way by the end of this year, but there’s still a lot of work to be done in that regard, so we’ll see. I switch focus on projects a lot, which admittedly is a weakness of mine. ^^’ I hope to have them all come to light someday, and this one is no different!I’ve been building up my Toyhouse account to be the place with the most of my online OC and story content, so feel free to check that out if you want to see more extensive stuff in the future (there’s a lot of spoilers!). I haven’t finished all of what I want to do with it yet, but it’s nice to have a place to put it all and keep updating it as I please. I’m hoping to get more writing done for both the lore of my characters and reasoning behind their designs too. Some of the story ideas are just titles at the moment, but I love naming things and making logos so I guess that was to be expected, haha.

How about both! Technically I already did Cyclonis a while back but I did it wrong, so take this one.

Cyclonis:

I have headcanons galore for this little brat, especially concerning her family. I also put her through the wringer on the Far Side, including a literal curse of bad luck backfiring on her which eventually leads to her embarrassing capture at the hands of the Storm Hawks.

Overall, I gift her shaking wet rat energy underneath all that Hot Topic edge.

Ravess:

"I will kill anyone who hurts them" also applies to myself. I have hurt her and will suffer the consequences lol. Gave her all the family problems including being forced into the role of caretaker for Snipe at a young age because their mother sucked. Seeing how everyone interprets her and her relationship with Snipe, Cyclonis and everyone else is super interesting to me.

I don't like Ace, what're you talking about? XD

Headcanons aside (bc I have far too many for this man), my favourite thing about him is probably how unhinged he was in Energy Crisis. The gremlin energy was extreme, and I loved it. The bastard deserved to go well and truly feral a bit more often.

How are the Storm Hawks adjusting to the Farside?

“It’s… it’s been quiet. Almost too quiet.” Aerrow shifts on his feet, as if expecting a threat to come at any moment. There is none. “The air feels weird here, too.”

“So far, everywhere we’ve been has been deserted.” Piper is leaning over the table in the bridge, the beginnings of a new map resting under her ink-stained fingers. There are three Terras, and a hazy spot with the word ‘tower’ written in the centre. “And there’s been no sign of Cyclonis whatsoever. We’ve been here more than a week already. It’s getting a little frustrating.”

“At least it’s not boring, though. Every day there’s something new. Even if it’s usually an animal attack, heh…”

“I miss Atmos.” You can hear the rock music blasting from Finn’s headphones. “Like, the Far Side is cool and all, but… our side is where home is, you know?”

“[We were expecting a lot more action than we’re getting right now. It’s not like our side, it’s making them antsy. Especially Aerrow...]”

“It’s fucking freezing here! I swear, I’ve been blue since day one!” Stork scowled and rubbed his hands together. “I’ve had lots of time to modify the new Condor though, which is… not terrible.”

Tell me. What does your idea of a perfect day look like?

Hm, a perfect day...

I'd wake up and be able to drink my morning coffee without also having to read another piece of paperwork. Take my time cooking breakfast, then I'd take Duchess for a run. If Austry or one of my other friends is free, I'd invite them to join me.

After that, I'd either go to Zooma or Xerxxes. Zooma for the races and Xerxxes for the hiking trails. I used to live there, it's a good Terra for day trips.
