In his defense, he’d tried to time it so he’d arrive back at the mansion while Bradford was still at the office. It’d be easier that way, to sneak into his own home like some kind of coward and get things sorted out on his own. If he was really careful, he wouldn’t have to run into anyone else, either.
Scrooge took the long route up to the manor, circling around the back and using the kitchen door to slip inside. He shut it silently, head turned to better listen for anyone nearby; focusing, he could hear what sounded like Beakley moving around upstairs in her own wing, but beyond that it was quiet.
Now fairly positive that no one was going to burst in on him - and that none of the security system was about to activate - Scrooge heaved a sigh as he moved from the kitchen, through the TV room and up the grand staircase. His head was already pounding, strong enough to occasionally blur his vision, and it was so tempting to just head right to his bedroom and sleep until it stopped. Never the less, he turned toward his office and study instead, determined to get his problem dealt with right away.
