UNCLE EDDIE // a late-night pop-up at Anything La Corner, Victoria Park that opens only on Mondays-Wednesdays to fuel your supper cravings. With only three items on their menu and one or two specials on Tuesday nights, Uncle Eddie proves that you don’t need an extensive menu to keep regulars coming back for more. As a third generation Malaysian emigrated to Perth, you’d bank on Uncle Eddie having a few tricks up his sleeves with recipes passed down from generations (Eddie’s grandfather was a hawker back in Malaysia). Despite the name “uncle”, Eddie is actually a 35 year old young lad. 😆 Tried the Mee Goreng and Char Kuay Teow (aud13.90) and they had really good wokhei. The prawns used were fresh and I loved how close the CKT here feels to Penang’s - despite this being halal with no pork lard and lapcheong as they respect Anything La Corner’s halal certification. I would imagine this to be even better when it’s with pork lard as this is one of the best CKT I’ve had in Perth so far. Mee Goreng was legit too and a favourite amongst our group. I’ve also tried the Penang White Curry Noodle Soup (aud14.90) a day ago and found it to be not as great as the two fried dishes - it needed more broth for the noodles to not clump together and the prawns used here tasted frozen instead of the really fresh ones. #UncleEddie #AnythingLaCorner #VictoriaPark #Malaysian #Perth #PerthMalaysian #PerthFoodReview #CharKuayTeow #MeeGoreng #PenangWhiteCurryNoodle #PFR_UncleEddie (at Uncle Eddie Perth) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTULsGRhBCZ/?utm_medium=tumblr
