Dauntless

We arrived at the lake Monday just in to watch the mighty tugboat Undaunted push its sister barge, Pere Marquette 41 - carrying piles of something, or other - over the choppy waters of Lake Huron.

The tug and barge together measure 494 feet.

Based in Ludingtong, Undaunted, powered by a pair of 2,000-horsepower diesel engines, is considered to be among the hardest working tugs on the Great Lakes.

Undaunted

Here’s the tug, Undaunted, shoving a load a while after sunset. The craft is moving northward on Lake Michigan as seen from a point between Pentwater (to the north) and Little Sable Point (to the south). One can find out some information on the tug here.
