→ Background Information

Born into the long standing family, the Dracula’s have been a strong family name in the community for generations. Sadly, when Mavis was just a baby her mother was killed in a house fire. Atleast that’s what it said in the papers, but her father knew better, she was murdered by their neighbours. The locals in the village they used to live in didn’t trust the Draculas. Being highly superstitious, the villagers labeled them as untrustworthy because of the reputation the family had gained in the past. Even if the family wouldn’t hurt a fly and were only concerned about their new little family, the villagers fear broke the family in two. It was no surprise, that her dad became extremely protective of her and kept her shielded from the outside world. When he heard of Libertas it became the perfect escape. Refurbishing an abandoned hotel to make it more extravagant he turned it into a home for the pair. Surrounded by a grave yard and ‘haunted’ forest, her father labeled it Hotel Transylvania ‘the hotel for monsters’, where the pair lived safe away from those who saw them as freaks. Most locals were too scared to come to the hotel or anywhere near the haunted forest. So the hotel was always full of people interested in ghosts or gowls. Ghost hunters and those interested in the spooky side of life. The hotel become famous for it’s monsters and gargoyles, being rumored to be one of the most haunted around. It was fun sure, and the guests who always came back became more like family. But being home schooled, Mavis grew up only knowing the walls of the hotel and couldn’t help but always dream for more.

→ Relocation Explanation

Mavis was always begging to see more of the world when she was growing up. Having only know the walls of the hotel and the surrounding grounds, it was no wonder she was going a little stir crazy. She wanted to see the world and meet people her own age. So when Johnny accidentally stumbled into the hotel, he opened her eyes to a whole new world that she’d know. It was the start of her finally spreading her wings and going out into the world. So after her eighteenth birthday that’s exactly what she did. Mavis moved closer to the city to university and study hotel management. Of course her father insisted that she could easily learn that at the hotel, but Mavis needed new experiences and to find herself outside of her home. It did help that she could still pop home when needed on the weekends and having her family so close was a peace of mind.

→ Living Situation

Moving out was always going to be a daunting thing for Mavis. Having only known the hotel her whole life how could it not? So it was only fitting she didn’t move far away to start with. Living with Winnie did make the transition easier. It was new and exciting but still with someone she felt comfortable with. Mavis’s room has a lot of gothic influence carried over from the hotel. She loves bats and has skeleton diagrams on the wall with a few little taxidermy friends next to her candles. Granted it is a little unconventional, but to her it’s as normal as day.

→ Her Personality

Mavis really does have a warm heart, with her inquisitive nature she is always wanting to learn more about the world that she has grown up so isolated from. Taking after her mother with her love for adventure, the raven haired girl is full of dreams of what her life could be like and all of the fun that could fill it. Granted she is still a little weary around some people after so many years of her Dad telling her that people can be cruel. But Mavis’s stubborn nature doesn’t believe it, thinking that anyone can chance and maybe they could understand if one she could talk to them.

→ Her Relationships

Jonathan Loughran (Crush & potential love interest): After meeting at the hotel, just before her eighteenth birthday, Mavis can’t seem to stop thinking about Johnny. He is not like anyone she has ever met before. With his love of life, adventure and music, to Mavis he is the most interesting person she has ever met. In her heart, a part of her thinks she’s found a ‘zing’ with her. But fears she’s too young to feel so sure about a person. Trying to pass it off as just a crush, there is no denying the feelings that she has for him and is just waiting for the right moment to share them.

Wynona Wolfgang (Friend & room mate): Winnie’s mother Wanda was always very protective and thoughtful when it came to Mavis. Keeping an motherly eye on her along with the rest of the guests. So it was no surprise that Mavis and Winnie started to spent more time together and quickly became friends. When the pair mentioned they were leaving and attending the same university, it was only right they ended up sharing.

Constantin vlad Dracula (Father): Growing up without a mum, her father had always been a big part of Mavis’s life. She loves him with all of her heart, though she does get frustrated at times with how over protective he is, she know that his heart is in the right place.

→ Possible Connections

Toulouse Bonfamille (Aquaintance): Mavis accidentally flew into Toulouse when she was penny boarding down the street. She was so used to flying around on her board in the hotel, she hadn’t accounted for the rocks on the street and tumbled off into him. They’d both ended up covered in paint from the cans he was holding so it’s safe to say they didn’t start on the best of terms. Though she finds him a colourful character and wants to know more about him.

Shona Kennedy (Aquaintance): Shona is close friends with her room mate Winnie so the pair have met a couple of times and have gone been on the odd night out together. While Mavis is more than willing to be her friend, Shona is still a little reserved towards the excitable Mavis.
