Chara’s done.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do regular Chara or “Creepy” Chara, so I did both!

I didn’t want to make two dolls, so I took some inspiration from creepy vintage two faced dolls, and felted two faces on one head. The removable wig completely conceals the second face.

I interpret the distortion of Chara’s creepy face as black “rot juice” and thought puffy paint could represent all that grossness! 😃

I thought of making them a knife at the last second, buuuuut they have no way of holding one. So I made a heart locket out of a heart locket charm I painted gold.

It’s cute but I regret a few things about making them.

They are very top heavy and I probably should have rigged a permanent contraption that would allow me to flip their head around and have it permanently attached. Chara was incredibly hard to balance. They kept falling over and coming apart. Then I’d have to put them back together, restyle their wig and try to get them to balance long enough to take a picture. Super frustrating.

Secondly, I shouldn’t have used wool for the wig. It keeps getting tangled and felting against it’s self and not laying properly. I’m going to redo it with either scavenged actual doll hair or brushed out acrylic yarn.

Oh well, hindsight!

I’ve already started of Asriel and expect he’ll be less troublesome.

🌼Good morning everyone! I am a little slow on this update this Saturday as I completely forgot it was Saturday if you want my honesty. I spent a good portion of the day in Papyrushell. As my mutuals and friends know of course I struggle with drawing Pap so that was what I was practicing all day. *rubs hands together*  Let’s talk about this chapter a little. 

This is one of those super important chapters I have mentioned before. I won’t spoil it but something does happen that is pretty freaking important. I know people asked me a lot about this particular even considering the fall out in Snowdin. I am happy to finally be able to share it! In about 2 weeks you will all be able to enjoy my personal favorite of all the chapters as well. This one has a lesser monster in it like Washua. Mad Dummy also makes an appearance! Temmy vibrates intensely I cut up a weird vibrating insect toy and put it in Tem. Weeeeee!

Chara now with improved wig and attached head. Creepy Chara looks a bit like Uboa here.

I threw together a diagram of the head attaching. This is just an old school way of attaching limbs to sewn dolls. You stick a very long needle up the doll’s butt and run the thread up through the doll’s body, head and through a button, and then back down again. I used a patch of loosely felted wool to cover the knots from the thread.

I glued the edges of the button to the underside of the wig to keep it on.

You want the thread to be tight enough to keep everything together solidly, but loose enough that everything can rotate. I went even a pinch looser than that, because in order to rotate the wig it needs to be lifted off the doll’s head. The wig cap was made to fit the dolls two faces exactly, this is the only way it would move and not rub against the felted surface too much and ruin it.

Oh yeah, I found these photos from a failed attempt at giving Toriel some fur.

Mettaton Ex is finally finished! WOOOO!!!

MTT is made mostly made of wool, with firestar and Angeline fibers for extra sparkle! He has an armature of posing, a “follow me” eye with lucious lashes, and a glowing soul.

I also decided to do his unfinished face, also with light up parts. His soul actually flashes if you press it a few times.

The lighting effects were all done with cheap LED jewelry I cannibalized. If I were to do it again, I think I’d want to put in proper LEDs and a battery pack.

I’m pretty happy with him.

Anyways, I’m doing Temmy next! She’s a super small project though, so why don’t you all help me pick my next big project.

hOI! Temmy done! I wish I had used a different wool for her hair, but I couldn’t get a good colour match at the fiber store and I didn’t feel like ordering online and waiting weeks for it to show up. So I used the closest thing I had on hand. She’s also a bit chunkier than she should be for reasons that are coming up in my next post.
