The cold hit Leaf as soon as he left Kaza’s comfortable cabin.

It wasn’t as bad as when he first went out, but that wasn’t saying much. At least this time, he wasn’t at risk of dying from hypothermia.

The Snivy frowned, turning back towards the Ruins. There was a stand over there, wasn’t there?

Struggling in vain to actually remember what the sign said, he mentally debated whether or not he should actually figure it out. On one hand, it was freezing cold. On the other - it might say something as odd as Dog Marriage.

Why would species have any impact on marriage, anyway?

One coin flip for a decision later, and Leaf arrived at the post by short-cutting through the woods.

...

There’s a skeleton there. That wasn’t there before.

“Um. Hello?”

Notably, the Snivy was behind the skeleton’s post, and thus, the skeleton himself.

A letter

Leaf slogged through the snow of Snowdin, a newly set ring on his middle claw. A quick test showed that yes - it worked just as intended, and it did protect against flames. 

It probably wasn’t the brightest of tests, placing his tail into a fireplace and seeing if the leaf caught on fire, but, well...

It worked didn’t it?

It’d definitely allow him to explore Hotland - the last time he tried, the sheer heat actually lit him on fire - luckily, the nearby guard post had enough snow to snuff the flames.

Leaf had yet to actually meet the guard posted there, but he left a small thank you note for never cleaning off the roof.

And a question trying to figure out how snow stands the heat. Or was it a clever snow substitute? Still, thanks.

Leaf shook his head, focusing on the now. The house was still a good walk away, and the heat protection didn’t equally protect against the cold.

He marched forward, tail shivering in the wind.

A letter

(A message for @undergroundsnivy )

A letter appeared in the night while his friend Leaf was probably asleep. Kaza had written it in a hurry...and he’d never teleported something without going with it so he only hoped it reached him.

“Dear Leaf

As you may have noticed, I have been gone for some time. This is because I was grounded for having weapons. In hindsight I’m not sure why I took them. Maybe it was just because they seemed interesting and I wanted to give them away. Regardless, you do not have a phone, so this is the only way to contact you.

I hope you are having a nice time in my house if you are staying there. You can have it for as long as I’m gone! Help yourself to the food in the kitchen but make a note it you have to borrow some gold to buy yourself something nice. If you need extra stuff, there is a chest in my room where I keep more valuable stuff, like other currencies. Maybe you can trade them to a collector for more gold? Also, if you are planning to explore more of the world, there is a place called Hotland, and I’m honestly a little worried about you, so take the ring with a red gem on it with you. It should help make that place more tolerable.

I...I dunno what else to really say without rambling. Maybe I should just wrap this up. I hope your doing well. I’m doing fine here. Oh, wait, I forgot, the key to the chest is under my pillow. There’s also a laptop in my room. If you can remember how I told you to use the laptop, call Nicole or Lee-zha on the video-chatting app, maybe they’ll let us talk.”

A Lost Explorer - ( Closed Starter with an-undertale-abra )

The small Snivy shivered, drawing his Explorer Bag closer to him in an attempt to ward away the cold.

It wasn’t very effective.

“So I’ve been told.”

He nodded simply, and that was another strange thing. Was he uncertain about what species he was? Other people had to tell him he was an Abra?

“…Oh dear, I suppose this is rather odd for you, isn’t it? Sorry. I’m not very good at being a pokemon…but if you really want someone that can help, I can call my mothers.”

“Mothers?”

Leaf blurted the question before he even thought of it.

“S-sorry about - just, uh. Never heard of more than one mother.” He admitted sheepishly.

He paused.

“And what do you mean not very good at being a Pokémon? Were you one of the former humans?”

There were legends told of humans, saving the world. From the time where even Legendaries were being petrified, to waking Rayquaza and warning him of an incoming meteorite, to even time itself breaking...

And then there was the Bittercold incident - eight years ago.

Well, it made him giddy at the thought - in fact, the shivers were barely affecting his speech now.

A Lost Explorer - ( Closed Starter with an-undertale-abra )

The small Snivy shivered, drawing his Explorer Bag closer to him in an attempt to ward away the cold.

It wasn’t very effective.

“I h-h-hate the c-c-cold.” Leaf grumbled, pulling out a Health Orb and holding it in his claw, just in case the cold really kicked him in the face.

Honestly, the only reason he hadn’t used it yet was because of his limited supplies. Four Health Orbs, and he needed to make them last.

He paused - noticing a small cabin off in the distance. There was also light, visible from the windows.

“T-t-that’s, uh. That’s c-convenient.” Leaf muttered to himself. A frigid burst of air caused him to shiver again - but this time, his shivers stopped cold.

“Oh, hell.” He cursed. He recognized the symptoms - when the body stopped shivering, you were really in trouble.

He sprinted forward towards the door, hoping that the owner would let him inside, and away from the cold.

[* Octopus guy was really tired and sleepy after really active day of selling things, but he decided to visit Grillby's at Snowdin anyway. But, because of his condition right now, he didn't see a small creature, which lead to his tripping over it a fallen down of 'is face. And, while being confused by the fall, he could only mumble: ] * Ah-ah-i'm sorrrrrray--

Leaf gave out a groan - both from the sudden, unexpected weight dropping on his head, and the sudden inability to actually enter the building and embrace the lack of chilling air.

Still…

“Hey, you alright there? Not drunk I hope.” Leaf joked, before frowning. “Come on, up you go!”

Two vines extended from his shoulders and hepled push the man back up into an upwards position.

Let Sleeping Goats Lie

Leaf sidled against the wall, looking inside the room as sneakily as he could.

The long nose he had while trying to look around the corner stuck out like a sore thumb, but it didn’t matter. Apparently, the resident of this house was asleep, a book laying haphazardly on her lap.

“Huh.” The Snivy muttered. He went back to his room with a small frown, before taking out a small piece of parchment from his Explorer Bag.

Thank you for taking care of my injuries, ma’am. I’ll be going out to explore - and while your home is cozy, I can’t stay too long. My wanderlust would eat at me.

He placed it neatly onto the bed before silently going through the front entrance, his feet making not a sound.

Taking a deep breath outside, he looked around with a smile.

“Where to, next?” He asked himself.

A Sapling Meets a Flower

The Snivy dragged himself out of the room, wincing as he held his arm.

A single flower was in the middle of the room. Smiling.

“Well...uh. Hello?”

“Howdy! I’m Flowey. Flowey the Flower!” The flower responded happily.

The Snivy paused, before giving a smile of his own. “I’m Leaf, an Explorer!”

“You’re new to the Underground, aren’t ya?” He noted. “I’ve never seen you down here before!”

"Golly, you must be so confused.”

Flowey gave a small, helpful smile.

“Somebody ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do. Ready?”

The Snivy frowned, before nodding.

“Here we go!”

The world shifted.
