I originally never planned on making Mari’s reference sheet this detailed, but my lecturer told me that I could start applying my digital painting homework onto my character sheets, so I did that with her
To clarify, this is a concept idea of her appearance in UnderSonas. She has a more detailed and glam design for her appearance in UnderMyth, which I do plan on making a proper ref sheet for one day
So anyways, if you don’t know -- Mari is Taylor’s childhood best friend (whom I’ve introduced before on my Instagram a while ago). The both of them, alongside 2 other boys, grew up and went to school together in Snowdin during their childhood before Taylor left. Mari eventually went to work at Muffet’s cafe when she’s older, but dreamt of pursuing a career in fashion; which in UnderSonas, shows that she did
I made the background of the sheet also a concept of how Mari’s boutique would look like. It looks empty for sure, but I didn’t wanna make it too detailed as Mari’s the main focus of the entire sheet, not the background
Some facts about Mari: She’s pansexual, but mainly appeals to women. In UnderSonas, she’s happily married to a bunny woman who I’ve yet to design. Mari’s pretty extroverted and is the type of woman that’ll call you with nicknames like “sweetie”, “honey”, “baby” whether or not you’re heavily associated with her. She’s super passionate about fashion and aesthetic looks, and makes sure that the clothes she sells at her boutique are affordable.
In fact, she provides an affordable custom clothing service. So if you can’t find anything good at the thrift store, you’re free to just look for Mari. She’ll be super happy to help
And that leads me to talking about Mari’s role in the story of US. She plays a small part, but Yale often visits her to get their clothes as she understands his wants and needs. She also helps him with clothing modifications at some point in the story, and I did draw out a scenario for that but I’ve yet to post that in the future
