what ADHD is really like
It is quite hard to have ADHD as a teenager because not many people actually understand what it is. When i tell my friends that i have ADHD, they say, no you can’t have ADHD your not hyper. But that is not what ADD is like.
There are so many types of ADHD, and only some of them have hyperactivity. Just because i have ADHD does not mean i am going to be hyper or impulsive that is only one particular type. ADHD does effect other things like learning , at school i never really learn anything and i find it hard to concentrate and remember things. I always fail my exams because i find it really hard to study and when i do learn things, i will probably forget them after a week. I am very unorganized and i find it hard to keep things tidy, but i am not hyperactive or impulsive.
I feel like not many adults actually properly understand ADD. And most of them think it is an excuse, but ADHD is actually a real problem it is not just an excuse that people make up because they are unorganized it is a proper problem in my brain.
I know that having ADHD is not the worst thing in the world. But it is quite hard to have it because hardly any one understands what it is like. All the books, leaflets and videos on ADHD just make you feel so terrible about yourself, because all they say is how you will be an alcoholic or how you will probably end up homeless or something, but none of them actually say anything nice about it, it just makes you feel like a failure.
I am sorry for the rant but i wanted to write something so people could understand what ADHD is about, because there is not much honest things about it.

because no one knows yet...
ianthe and diamond and i are running an adhd-related blog where we will be creating/reblogging posts that we find are relevant to help explain what adhd is really like to those who don't have it, or don't fully understand what it's about. we want it to be used as a sort of tool that can be used to convince someone to look into the state of their own mental health or to help a person better understand someone they know who currently deals with adhd
but overall, it is more or less to explain behavioral tendencies brought on by adhd for people who fall outside of the adhd spectrum
the blog is still fairly new and incomplete, but if you're interested in following, the url is:
