Humans and monsters, two races who existed beside one another. Separate from each other yet fully aware of each other's presence. It has been like this for eons, and neither side tried to interact with one another. That was until the new king and queen of the monsters took over. King Asgore along with his beloved wife Queen Toriel had decided to change things once they took the throne of monsters. Wanting peace amongst them and the humans they reached out to them and started to try and build bonds with them. It was not an easy task given that the two races had been separated for so long, but with patience and understanding extended towards the humans, slowly but surely bonds were forged among the two races. And for many years when the human kings and queens passed the bonds were renewed with the monsters who barely aged a day and promoted peace and prosperity between them.
However like all things, those peaceful and tranquil times came to an end.
Tragedy had struck the Dreemer family. Through the years Asgore and Toriel had a son, Asriel and an adopted human daughter named Chara. Beloved by their monster subjects the two children were deemed to be safe from any possible harm. This thinking would prove to be their undoing as the king and queen did not even consider that there were humans who did not like the thought of a human child growing up with monsters. Narrow minded and unable to see past their hatred those humans attacked the Dreemer children. Asriel and Chara had been out picking flowers that fateful day unaware of the horrific events that would be thrust upon them. The humans had found them and angered by the sight of them together had attacked them, and Chara who had caught sight of their attackers had not hesitated to shield her brother who was weaker than her from their blows. The girl was killed when she had went to protect him and Asriel horrified by the events that had just occurred had tried to fight them off. But alas he was no more than a child and just like his sister he too was murdered by them.
The death of the Dreemer children had reached their parents and Asgore blinded by the betrayal and grief that consumed him declared war on the humans. For many years the two sides fought and to this day the war still rages on. Time passed filled with nothing but death and destruction for both humans and monsters and unable to handle the grief and violence of it all Toriel died leaving the king even more grief stricken. In his sorrow he began to descend into what was considered madness. Whispers began about the mad king who began to collect the souls of children to try and defy death. All he needed was one more soul to complete his desire. Just one more soul and he could finally put an end to this war and bring back his beloved family whom he'd lost.
Or......so the legend says. There was nothing that could confirm nor deny any of this, that is until now.

War.
It was something that you'd grown used to. From the moment you'd been old enough to form coherent thought you'd known nothing but war and taught on how to rule your kingdom and protect your people against the monsters. It was your duty as the crown princess and future queen of humanity to know these things. However if you were honest you'd rather not be involved with such things. Unlike those before you, you wanted nothing more than to end this war and make peace with the monsters. A lot of people didn't like that idea and would often try to shut you down despite being the princess of them. It was infuriating to say the least. The only one who seemed to agree with you was your younger brother Frisk. Frisk was a quiet boy who didn't like violence, preferring to instead try a peaceful solution to end conflict. It was the only thing that made you and him similar to one another. Frisk and you were as different as night and day. Frisk looked a lot like your mother, with dark brown eyes and tanned skin and dark brown hair. While you looked more like your father with your (S/C) tone, bright (E/C) hues and (H/L) (H/C) hair. Yet despite these differences you and Frisk were extremely close to one another.
One was rarely seen without the other close by. Which is why the court didn't bat an eye when you and Frisk had decided to step outside to enjoy the nice weather and somewhat peaceful atmosphere that you were rarely given. Frisk ran up ahead of you, his face bright with an excited grin. You followed behind him, keeping your skirts up slightly as to not get caught or trip in them.
"Frisk slow down you silly boy!"
You said amused by his excitement. Frisk just turned back to give you a smile and continued onwards. You just laughed and followed him knowing that he wouldn't slow down until the two of you got there. After following him for a few more minutes the two of you finally came to your destination. A large field filled with gorgeous yellow flowers. Frisk practically beamed at the field and ran towards it and you were close behind him. The flowers swayed in the gentle breeze, their golden petals shimmering somewhat in the sun.
'Aren't they beautiful (Y/N)?'
Frisk asked his hands moving to help him speak.
"They're gorgeous Frisk, and they smell wonderful."
You said agreeing with him. The younger boy gave you a beaming smile and began to pick some of them. You smiled affectionately at him and began to gather them with him. All was calm and pleasant as the two of you bathed in the sunshine and enjoyed each other's presence. Due to the war getting worse you and Frisk barely had time to interact with one another anymore so having this moment with him was something that you held dearly. It was when the sun had started to set that you had Frisk gather his things. Once he had everything gathered the two of you began to make your way back towards your castle, completely at ease from having such a nice day for once. However that tranquil atmosphere that had eased you both was broken by the sounds of howling. You stiffened and Frisk froze next to you his eyes which were usually closed were now open showing his unease. You went to comfort him when the field was suddenly filled with knights rushing from the trees. Frisk let out a terrified gasp and you grabbed his arm recognizing the symbol on their armor.
'Monsters....! They're monster knights! Why are they so close to the human territory???'
You thought stunned and slightly fearful. As soon as you had Frisk in your grasp you tried to run, clinging to the boy in the vain attempt of escaping. The knights which you realized were dog monsters were quicker than you and quickly descended upon you and Frisk. You felt your arms being grabbed and Frisk being pulled from your arms. Frisk let out a small scream of terror, struggling against his captors to try and get back to you. You also struggled against the knight holding you, desperate to get to Frisk.
"Let him go please! He's just a child-!"
You shouted panicked and terrified for him. The knights ignored your pleas instead parting slightly to let the lead knight through the throng. You hadn't noticed this knight but the aura of authority they displayed was enough to let you know that they were the leader. The head knight made their way towards Frisk and gave the struggling boy a focused look.
"This is the one.....we finally found him. The last soul. The king will be pleased."
A voice rough but distinctly feminine spoke from the suit of armor. You felt your blood freeze as you realized what they were searching for. You'd heard the stories of the mad king known as Asgore and how he'd take human children for God knows what.
'Please not Frisk, anyone else but Frisk.....!'
You couldn't help but scream silently. The head knight gave her knights a nod and you felt yourself be dragged as you were held captive.
"Bring the boy and the woman along with us. We can not afford to have someone tell about this."
The female knight said earning a bark from the dog knights. You squirmed as you watched Frisk be shoved into a bag, feeling a wave of protectiveness overwhelm you.
"Frisk! No let him go please! I'm begging you-!"
You'd began to plead again only to be tossed into a cloth sack yourself. You struggled against it and felt yourself be thrown over a shoulder before the body began to move, taking off running behind the other knights. You felt yourself grow afraid as you realized that this was happening. You could hear Frisk crying and it made your heart ache for him. You knew that you and Frisk wouldn't be able to get out of this and that thought alone terrified you. All you could do was helplessly sit by and be dragged to the kingdom of monsters.
~~~~~
You didn't know how long you were in your sack, but you knew that you arrived to your destination when you felt the body you were on stop and heard the sounds of the gates being opened up. You couldn't figure out exactly where you were, unable to see where you were. You couldn't hear Frisk anymore and that scared you to death. Had something happened to Frisk? You didn't know if you would be pacifist anymore if anything happened to your little brother. You felt yourself start to move again and your bag swayed with the dog knights movements. You had no clue how long you were in that bag but you were startled when you were suddenly shaken out of your bag and into a cell. You shook your head to try and get your bearings and quickly went to rush out of the cell only to be locked in. Grabbing the bars you began to shake them pressing your face against them.
"Where's Frisk??? Where's my brother???? If you so much as laid a finger on his head you'll regret it!!!"
You snapped trying to sound threatening. However your worry for Frisk overshadowed any kind of threatening vibe you were going for. The knight just huffed at you undeterred.
"That's none of your business human. Now pipe down."
The one dog knight barked out making you glare at him. The knight didn't even acknowledge your existence before he disappeared up the stone stairs leaving you alone in the dark, damp dungeon. You felt your heart shatter as you felt any chance of helping Frisk shrink before your very eyes. You were his older sister and it was your duty to keep him safe, just as it was your duty to protect your people when you become queen. Yet here you were completely useless and unable to do anything as they took your precious little brother. You felt your eyes sting as you began to lose hope, the reality of the situation finally getting to you. Sliding down the bars you felt your throat tighten and let out a small sob. You were helpless and you were defenseless and for all you knew you were going to rot in the dungeon.
"I failed Frisk, I failed my people. I'm so sorry Frisk, I'm so sorry."
You said softly through your tears burying your head in your knees as you cried. Before you knew it your body began to give way to exhaustion and you fell into a tense sleep.
Undye should have been used to this. Being the head knight of the king meant that she had to get her hands dirty sometimes, especially during a war. However she wasn't. She'd never get used to taking innocent children and hearing them cry and plead at her to let them go. She'd never get used to killing them when she was asked to. And today she was reminded of why she would never get used to it. The fish monster had managed to track down the last soul and was quick to strike. Unfortunately she hadn't been expecting to see the human child, Frisk to be with someone else. She hadn't expected to hear the woman plead with her, begging her to spare the boy. It was obvious to her now that they were family, given that the boy when he was released from his bag had begun to cry for the woman, (Y/N). Sounding desperate and devastated whenever he didn't get a response. Perhaps that was why she had yet to let the royal court know of her findings. Undye refused to say anything about finding the last soul, being currently haunted by the cries and pleas from the two humans.
She'd made sure to let her guards know to not say anything as of yet. What she was doing was risky and she could very well be executed for this. Not telling King Asgore about this was basically treason yet the fish monster couldn't in good reason to tell him. Especially since her king seemed to be going mad with grief and insanity.
'A bit too late for that Undye.'
A voice hissed softly in her head. Undye shook her head and made her way towards the knights bedding area. She needed someone to help her with this, someone who would help her figure things out and help her keep an eye on the humans. And she knew just the person or rather people who could help. Stepping into the living quarters she began to look for who she wanted to speak to and finally found them.
"Sans, Papyrus. I have a mission for you two."
*.........Ya know what I have no excuse for this. All I thought of was princess reader with a knight Papyrus and a medieval romance type of thing and I started writing it wanting this and instead I ended up with this monstrosity of a fic. I have no idea what I'm doing anymore shshdhdhchvn. I also don't know if I'll continue this, I just wanted to write something and I ended up with this and I'm so sorry. I honest to God didn't mean to make Asgore insane nor to make everything hella dramatic but I did it anyways I have no idea what's going on with my brain space shdhdhdhfh. Anyways if any y'all read this I hope you enjoyed it!!!*
