Northern Downpour Photojournal
One of my favorite parts of writing my Norway AU fic has been describing the gorgeous scenery! If you haven’t read the fic, you can find it here. I thought I’d put together this post to show you guys some of the places in real-life Undredal, Norway that inspired the fic! I’ll keep updating it with photos as I post more chapters.
UPDATE: I actually traveled to Undredal in 2022 and took tons of photos of my own! I’m keeping this up, but the new photojournal is linked HERE and in the fic!
Undredal from the water ❤️
Simon’s House
This red house I found on Google Street View inspired Simon’s. ❤️
A view of Simon’s 30 second walk to the café. (When it’s not snowing, haha.)
And finally, the sunset from Simon’s balcony. Chapter 3 ❤️
Sognal Airport
This is where Baz lands in Chapter 1.
Stegastein Viewpoint
The site of Baz’s “food with a view” in Chapter 2.
Ebb’s Cafe
The blue building you can see in these photos inspired Ebb’s cafe. It isn’t actually the real café, but I just loved the color.
The Real Café
It has this cute outdoor area for all the tourists to have lunch in the summer and try the famous cheese!
Norwegian Christmas Milk
Featured in Chapter 5!
Boller - Chapter 6
And of course I made some of my own. You know, for science.
Did I order geitost from a grocery store like 7 miles away? Maybe.
Undredal Stave Church
The church is featured in Chapter 7.
But you need to understand how truly tiny it is. LOOK AT IT!
And here’s the inside!
Ebb’s Goats! ❤️
We’ll also meet them in Chapter 7! Send me a goat name and I’ll try to work it into the fic! 👀
Cheese Tasting!
Simon leads a tour in Chapter 9 where he introduces tourists to all the wonderful food Undredal has to offer, including goat cheese, meats, juices, and jams. Here’s what the spread looks like on an Undredal cheese tour:
You can scroll up to see the outdoor seating area, but I couldn’t find any good photos of the cheese tasting room unfortunately.
Also here’s a picture of some goat cheese perched on a stool, just because.
And here’s some pretty geitost.
