This was supposed to be an interrogation of sorts. A chance for the prosecution to find holes in his story to find out if he was hiding anything, but this was different. Gerard had already confessed to the crime and had given the authorities more than enough detail to ensure that it was obvious it couldn’t be anyone else. On top of that, he had already turned down his right to legal representation and told them he would be representing himself which would usually be unwise in a case that would keep him in jail.
Had he been a human that is. Uncaring about the ever changing rules they had and because he knew he would be free again soon, he told them the truth of what he was. A vampire. None of them believed him and thought he was insane. They put him in this cold metal place thinking that would be the end of things. Whoever they had chosen as his opposing counsel was supposed to be visiting today to decide for herself if he was crazy or not and he awaited her arrival patiently. What was a few hours or even weeks to a man older than Christianity itself?
