     The comment hung in the air without further explanation; Gut feeling worming its way past her teeth and into the open as she leered down at the man not in indignance or pride, but instead, more of curiosity. Something that didn’t belong.      Another specimen for the microscope to be poked and prodded at; Torn apart with pins and blades before being stitched back together with gentle caress and silk threads.

     It was a quiet night. Though she was never a fan of being sent to Teufort, the warmth that radiated from the air and ground even when night encroached was enough to make up for months in the snow and to bear witness to disagreeable practices. From her own knowledge, a moment of peace was harder to come across here than in Coldfront; A moment of respite where silence dominated the air only to be broken by distant creaking or breaths.      The pause went on as she sipped from her drink, finally turning to face the man before continuing.

“You don’t strike me as a mercenary.”
