I know I sound like a broken record, but I’m so proud of BTS. The speeches they gave at the UNGA were thoughtful and heartwarming, offering words of reassurance of a bright future that we can make a reality. Even with the devastation brought on by the pandemic and climate change, there is still hope, and not all is lost. Change is the way forward. We got this! Their speeches were really healing!
They all did such a great job, despite being on the world stage in front of world leaders! And to think RM's done this once before, all in English!! Talk about nerve wracking! I can only imagine how they were feeling, being one who always gets nervous having to present anything to even a small group of people I already know! They did amazing! And sweet child Jimin was so nervous he was seen clutching his heart afterward!
I’m really glad they chose “Permission To Dance” as the song to perform at the UNGA. It truly is an uplifting and fun song, as much as it is universal. The song is in English, which is known as THE global language, connecting the entire world. It also incorporates international sign language in the choreography, making their performance more inclusive and just that much more meaningful. There’s a video going around of a sign language interpreter stopping to watch the performance instead, breaking into a soft smile watching BTS and the dancers use sign language as a part of their dance. It really warms the soul.
Once again, I am in awe of BTS and their choice to use their platform for such important matters that affect the world. They know that they are now so big and influential, that they have to make their impact count. They want to change the world for the better. They want to help build a better and brighter future. All that they do is truly commendable. RM once said that he hoped that one day ARMY can look back and be proud that they are fans of BTS. He certainly got that right!
I cannot wait to see what else awaits BTS! 💜💜
just saying but the only comments i see u all leaving in the unga live stream chat box better just be purple hearts or i swear 😃🔪
the last time bts gave a speech at unga in 2018 only namjoon did the talking bc of their limited fluency in english at that time but...... do y'all think we could get other members speaking too this time?

(...) Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
On the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, I would like to offer my gratitude to all who endeavored in favor of the elevation of human dignity and contributed to the drafting of the DDPA.
It is regrettable that two decades after the adoption of the DDPA, the world suffers from revived forms of racial discrimination. The murder of George Floyd in Minnesota, along with international outcry against emerging Islamophobia, shows that the international community must identify major obstacles in the way of combating racism and take serious action for its elimination.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, contrary to the former regime’s close ties with certain racist entities, decided to stand alongside the people of South Africa in their noble struggle against Apartheid. That was strongly highlighted and commended during a visit to Iran by the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.
As the new Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I am honored to announce that my Nation’s willpower is dedicated to the total elimination of all forms of racial discrimination, including Apartheid and Zionism. These are crimes that constitute horrible atrocities, such as child killing and the creeping occupation through settlements which extends to the proximity of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Such violations amount to crimes against humanity and only by shared resolve of the international community in cooperation, solidarity and zero-tolerance in combating racial discrimination, can these crimes be countered. Official UNGA sign language interpreter reaction to BTS using sign language in their song Permission to Dance
Finally got around to watch the full speech and I’m so proud of them! The professionalism, the pictures, the speech itself, it was all so well done. They talked about these last two years in a real way, without shying away from all the hardships, but highlighting our resilience and willingness to work together to make the world a better place. It was inspiring and hopeful and welcoming. They truly did an amazing job
