Honestly my biggest gripe with the finale is why Asa and not Ezra? I feel like Ezra works better and it's a more common name

I believe in the Duck Ending
we’ve talked plenty about the ending of GO3 but i don’t think we’re giving enough attention to the fact crowley lost the bentley (you know, the car he’s loved for decades??) in protecting the bookshop even though aziraphale isn’t there & there’s no indication he’d ever be back
ok but one funny thing about the finale was that over the centuries we’ve seen crowley with every hairstyle imaginable, yet the literally ONLY time aziraphale changed his hair he was later like „whoa ok I’m NEVER doing that again“ and then changed it back into his short curls and kept it that way for the literal rest of history
This is just a quick thank you for all the people out there right now creating art, stories, posts, supporting other people‘s content, any kind of contribution at all. I feel like we as the fans have suffered so much over the last few years, we are such a war-torn fandom, been in the absolute trenches of Aziracrow hopes and dreams and failed promises and endless waiting and through it all, the thing that has most filled my heart is the imagination and creativity and laughter and love that we have all used to hold each other. Thank you for everyone spreading kindness and comfort. Love and need you <3
Hope this helps
okay so I’m not gonna make this a super long drawn-out post or anything because I don’t have my thoughts together enough for that yet. but generally the way I feel about the ending of Good Omens is divided pretty cleanly in two:
1) I am very sad that we didn’t get to see Aziraphale and Crowley have a happy ending in their own universe;
and
2) I think it’s a love letter to humanity that it ended the way it did. I also think it’s insanely beautiful and poignant that the ending is basically “their souls will always find their way back to each other in every universe, forever.” I genuinely can’t think about that too much or it makes me forget how to breathe and swallow.
This was always going to be complicated. There was never going to be a clean and easy way out, as much as we all wished there would be.
I will never stop thinking about these two, in all of their incarnations and across all universes (including the one we watched over the course of the series), finding each other and falling in love and proving that there is so much value in daring to question and to break the cycle and to make sacrifices and to LOVE.
I love them. I always will.
The more I think about it, the more I believe the divide in the Good Omens fandom right now is a philosophical one.
We’re asking, where does the soul live?
For those who think that who we are is shaped by a life time of experiences. That we grow and change with each each heartbreak and trauma. We see the ending as something horrible. We’re witnessing the death of our beloved characters and we are grieving for them.
For those who believe in a soul, who believe that Asa and Anthony are Aziraphale and Crowley because of the something intrinsic that lives inside them, what they’re seeing is a rebirth and a second chance. In that sense the ending is beautiful. They both get exactly what they’ve always wanted. To live as humans without the pressure of heaven and hell. In that sense, the ending is a joyous one.
Sadly these beliefs are deeply held, often the roots begin as far back as our childhoods. No amount of screaming at each other about media analysis is going to change anyone’s mind. Please just accept that there are multiple ways that one can view the ending and that those who are upset are experiencing grief. This is an extremely normal and valid reaction to end of something so meaningful and should be treated with care.
That said, your grief is not an excuse to lash out and those who don’t deserve it.
Be kind to each other.
In case you missed it,
In one of the final scenes, at the pub, Asa and Anthony's outfits are the one Aziracrow wear in Book!Omens, dining together while Terry's portrait is looking down at them
This is such a great hommage to the book and its author, I love it
Oh, and that's an apple tree behind them :)
A missing scene. Thanks for all the fanart and fic throughout the years, you guys
I supremely enjoyed the good omens finale, but I’m seeing a lot of people say they didn’t?
And I kind of get it but also I feel like the whole point of the ending they did was giving them what they, specifically Crowley always wanted for them.
A chance to live life to the fullest without anyone tugging the strings or threatening them with heavens wrath or hellfire. Just the chance for people to be people and love each other.
And then they got the chance to do just that!
Things are different and they are changed and going back to the way things were wouldn’t make anyone happier.
At the end of the day they found each other and they loved each other. That’s all I really wanted from the show, and even though it’s different it definitely wasn’t bad.
The fact that some people might look down on this simple human life makes me a bit sad. As if it's not enough. As if it's not something magical and fantastic already. As if Aziraphale and Crowley didn't fight for it for 6000 thousand years! To find each other despite all the odds. To live together, explore the world together, die together. To choose each other every time. That seems to be the whole point doesn't? Freedom to live and love. Even if it's a small life.
In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you.
forget the kiss! i wanted, no, NEEDED them to hug. i just wanted them to have the crushing, long, emotional "i'm so sorry i left, i hope you understand why i had to" / "it's okay, i just wish we could have talked about it" / "we can talk now. i'm here now and i am so so sorry" EMBRACE that they fucking NEEDED. like I N EEDED THEM TO TALK. TO COMMUNICATE. TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT VERBALLY AND TO HUGGGGGGG AND MAYBE IF THEY HAD THEN THEIR WORLD WOULDN'T HAVE FUCKING VANISHED INTO LITERAL NOTHINGNESS oughhhhhghh
Maybe they could have saved the universe if Anathema hadn't burned that second book of prophecies
For a hot sec there, I really thought when they were there at the center of the universe and Michael was the only one who remembered it all, that they were somehow going to convince her it was all worth saving, and then pull everything out of her head to remake the world and everyone in it.
Whelp.
