Hey Lucien, I hope you're well. I'd love to read your thoughts about this post (https://www.instagram.com/p/DNNjyGgyhH9/?img_index=6&igsh=MmR3anM0YWVrNmh2) since it relates to Faery Kings and Queens, Deities, and claiming Ancestry from them.
A long while ago I was "taken" to a feast in the Otherworld hosted by a very unique woman who was regarded by others present as "Queen", but welcomed me and treated me as family, giving me very personal advice and even detailing to me ways to reach out to her if I shall need to. To me (knowing I do dream true and speak to the dead in this manner), that confirmed some sort of ancestral relation to Celtic God(s) but I'm not entirely aware to what extent, or of what nature. I'm asking you as an experienced and well researched Mediator with the Otherworld, is this a thing historically recorded in other British isles, or even in continental Europe? What's your understanding of such claims of descent from great fair folk, even Gods and Goddesses or Kings and Queens of old?
Thank you for your time.
People or clans claiming descent from spirits and gods is attested historically in a number of cultures. It is something very dear to the hearts of some, and so I aim to tread lightly, but I will be as direct as I can.
Just to clarify this and get it out of the way: I do not believe that numinous entities are capable of creating corporeal offspring. I think human beings are incapable of being born from anything other than human parents. So in that sense, I don't believe any person claiming divine ancestry can claim actual genetic lineage from an Otherworld entity.
So then, where is the core of truth therein? While I don't have historical or scholarly sources on hand to back up this argument currently, I feel confident in my assertions to share a bit, based on instinct, reading between the lines, and my own spirit communications. And what all that tells me is that lineages claiming descent from divine figures seems most likely to have arisen in a similar fashion.
Put simply, I think assertions of this sort can generally be traced to a lineage descended from one or more individuals who bore sacred Oaths to a numinous entity that altered them spiritually. Using the idea of a family clan being descended from Cú Chulainn, as is mentioned in the post you shared, a theoretical reconstruction of that lineage formation might be that distant Irish ancestors were descended from a great warrior who venerated Cú Chulainn as a patron spirit and was elevated through religious or social means to ratify his connection with that divinity, placing the entire lineage under the power of Cú Chulainn. In a similar vein, a lineage descended from one who served as the embodied oracle of a given deity might be considered descended from that deity.
And in the realm of clans that claim generalized “faerie lineage,” I think the mechanisms involved are about the same. For instance, fae lineage is often claimed to originate with an ancestor who was said to have married a faerie, which I take to represent folk memory of a progenitor who was intimately tied to the Otherworld and acquired a faerie lover. When a person forms such a radically entwined numinous contract, they are spiritually altered in a foundational way. While I don't believe spirits can have physical children, I believe the mark they leave on the spirit of a physical being can be carried on to descendants. It is not unlike the concept of genetic memory, but instead of subtle information being passed down through the genes, it is passed down through the soul.
All of that being said, I will address the more personal question you included. What you described sounds like a spirit visitation, and one where you are being approached for a compact of sorts, no less. To be seen and chosen by an Otherworld entity could almost be thought of as being taken under their familial wing, and as such, it is not uncommon for spirits to act caring, or even familial, when reaching out. Keeping that in mind, I don't believe it inherently speaks to an Otherworld lineage, though I can't claim to really know the nuances of your own spiritual ties, as I know next to nothing about you.
