❛ . . . it’s been A LONG TIME since you’ve come to visit me, miss rize. ❜
@unholyshe : requested a starter.
@unholyshe gave sacrifice : ‘ you are going to break your promise. i understand. ‘
red eye would drag over the boy’s form , her head tilting almost menacingly . “ oh , sin . “ she would say , a pout forming on her lips , entirely mocking in nature , though she reached for him anyway . fingers sliding over his jaw , gripping his chin in response . her look was piercing as she read his face . his cold blue eyes looked right back , and she found them unreadable in such a moment . a result of his ancestor’s pact , he should be thankful for it . the power beyond what anyone else of his kind could become , not to mention her special interest in the boy . he should be on his knees thanking her , and yet , instead all she heard was accusations .
“ i do not make promises , and you should know better than to make a deal with a devil . didn’t your ancestors teach you that , boy ? they end up with curses on your bloodline if you can’t fulfill your bargain . “ she would grin , releasing his jaw from her fingers , though the marks of her nails remained there . “ do not try to appeal to the humanity that i have left . it is reserved for someone else . i have not done anything beyond our terms , anyway . “

“I didn’t want takeout tonight. I was going to try my hand at making you somethin’.” He’s a little annoyed, though he supposes he shouldn’t be. Akali taking the time to order something for the both of them for a chill night in was endearing on her part. He’d let it slide this once, despite his disappointment. The food was great anyway, if she didn’t end up stealing bites off his food every now and then.
“Fine, tomorrow then. But don’t think I won’t let you get away with this too often. Not healthy t’order takeout every day, even if you love it and it tastes great.”
@unholyshe said: ❝ you’re sounding more like your father by the minute. ❞ ( from senna )
The words caught him off-guard. His face swiveled towards her, slightly, and a brow raised. It had been a long time since he’d thought of Urias, though a slight twinge of guilt rose up in his chest at that admittance. Truthfully, after he’d lost her, he’d come to understand why his father had refused to let him become a Sentinel for so long. He’d been granted some twisted clarity, some insight into his father’s protectiveness which had so bothered him in his youth, and, really, he’d only been able to draw the conclusion that his father would be disappointed in that critical mistake which had tore his wife away from him.
‘ Funny, ain’t it? ’ he said with a sigh. A smile formed on his lips, looking at her, and though part of it was genuine, there was a certain melancholy to it. ‘ I used’ta be so resentful ‘bout how protective he was. Guess I just didn’t understand loss yet. ’
His gaze shifted away, out towards the horizon. He wondered how long it would be before ghouls and wraiths appeared on it. For now, they enjoyed one of their rare moments of peace. Despite the sad look about him at times, overall, he was content now— in moments like these, that is, when things almost seemed back to the way they were.
‘ But you really can’t blame me for worryin’. I know it ain’t ever gonna compare to what you endured, but— you know, all those years, they weren’t easy for me either. It’s gonna take a while’ta get used to you bein’ back. Really back, I mean, not like tomorrow you won’t go’n get taken by... somethin’ else, ’ he muttered the words. He knew she was strong, capable— likely more so than him, still, even despite all those years of hunting her captor —and yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that the world would pull her from him yet again.
Paranoia, it was, borne of the years of hatred and merciless pursuance of that vile creature which had imprisoned her. He seldom stopped to consider his feelings, to really examine the emotional toll it had all had on him, but the grief was so entwined with him by this point that its absence would leave him almost feeling empty. His love was still strong as ever— that was never in question —but few men are strong enough to be consumed by years of wrath and abhorrence without coming out a little changed.
‘ Besides, ’ he chuckled a little, this time coming across a bit more genuine, ‘ We’re older, now. It’s ‘bout time one of us does. ’

The sun was shining bright, the warm air perfect for a day out for a walk. And that was what both girls happened to be doing. Nothing to do, Kayle and Morgana had decided to take a walk through the forest, to enjoy the scenery and watch the little creatures run around.
“Come on Kayle! Nothing’s going to hurt you!” Morgana shouted as she ran along the path, laughing and smiling as she chased after some small animals. Kayle though, was taking her time, looking around with a look of fear in her golden eyes. “Mooooooorg!!! Slow down before you leave me behind!” She shouted to her twin, who only seem to ignore her and continue on her merry way. Kayle groaned, sprinting after her.
“Dad says we have to stick together Morg.” She said once she finally caught up, Morgana waiting by a small pond behind some brush. “You know he’ll get mad if he finds out you left me behind.” There was a pause, Morgana looking over her shoulder at her. “You mean when he finds out.” She stared at her. “I know you’ll tell if I do it again. You always do.”
Kayle frowned. “Dad gave us that rule to keep us safe! And he told us if the other one breaks it to tell him!” She shouted, in which Morgana only scoffed. “You never know how to have fun...” She mumbled, crouching down by the water and staring into it. “And it’s not like I went that far. You still had me in your sights, so what does it matter?” She brushed a strand of dark hair from her eyes, watching some small fish swim in the water.
“Dad said to stop being mean to me.” Kayle retorted, her brows furrowing. “Sorry that I don’t want to get hurt while we’re out here. You should be more careful!” She shouted again, walking over to her sister and looking down at the water. “What are you doing anyways?”
There was no answer, instead Morgana traced a finger on the surface of the water, her violet eyes peering into it. “Mooooooooooorg!!!” Kayle whined, shaking her shoulder. “Huh?” Morgana finally snapped out of it, looking up at her sister. “Did you say something?” Kayle sighed. “Nothing...we should go back soon. Dad said we’re only allowed out here for a bit.”
“Yeah...” Morgana mumbled, looking at her reflection once more before standing up. “Wanna race? Whoever wins gets to pick the bedtime story tonight!” Morgana shouted, already running from Kayle, back down the path they came from. Kayle puffed her cheeks out, sprinting after her. “Not fair!!! You got a head start Morgana!” She shouted as both girls ran back home.
@unholyshe for Emet-Selch
Kasumi had been forcibly stood off to the side of the people working at the Bottom Rung, the others citing that she had done enough running around tiring herself out. While they were right, and she had to conserve her strength until they knew what awaited them atop the Bright Cliff, she just felt antsy.... though the person standing not far from her might be as much the cause of that.
The Ascians were inscrutable at the best of time, but Emet-Selch was in a league of his own, alongside Elidibus. She couldn’t figure him out... he didn’t seem as directly and obviously hostile as Lahabrea and Nabriales had been, but everything he did and said had this undertone of... contempt, something that didn’t need the Echo to be picked up on. He had explicitly said that he didn’t respect the Exarch, the Scions, or the people of the First as people -or even as living beings, from his exact wording- and yet...
Urgh. She was no Alphinaud to begin with when it came to reading and negotiating with people, but Emet-Selch’s mannerisms and tight-lippedness made it no easier to figure him out.
“...I d-don’t understand,” she said, quietly, so that only Emet-Selch could hear her rather than the people working nearby- Father was less than a few yards away and would undoubtedly try to step in if he heard. “I know you aren’t p-pressed for time, but why do you allow us to c-continue? How do our actions p-play into your plan..?”
