Unikron software's 2D Toolkit handles different resolutions with the tk2dCamera and tk2dCameraAnchor. It can even scale all sprites by 2 for iPad Retina's resolution, keeping everything in proportion. However, it does not scale other things, like iTween's iTweenPath. I repositioned the paths with a script to keep gameplay in proportion. Otherwise iPad Retina gameplay would only occupy a small portion of the centre of the screen.
15:15 NGUI's tiled sprite tends to have black lines at the edges of the tiles. Putting a single pixel border on the sprite on the atlas prefab takes care of the seams.
