Runners Raced in the Rain at Robinsons’ 11th Fit & Fun!
Sunday last week, Typhoon Maria was about to enter the Philippine area of responsibility and it was raining heavily at some parts of the country, but that did not stop the participants of Robinsons' 11th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run to enjoy what they've signed up for!
It was bed weather in Metro Manila that day, so imagine how amazing it would be to just stay on your mattress all day watching a movie or surfing on your phone while savoring the flavor of your fave instant ramen. I salute those who stayed active despite the stormy scene.
The event was held at the parade grounds of Camp Aguinaldo in QC. Different types of fitness buddies joined the 5K and 10K races - husband and wife, mom/dad and his/her youngster, grandparent and grandkid, siblings, relatives, friends, workmates, loved ones and even church mates.
I have been a devotee of the race since 2015. The past 3 races were spent running with my boyfriend. For a change, I ran with my younger sissy Myra this time. She and I enjoyed bathing in the rain when we were children, so we found it refreshing to run, jog and brisk walk under nature's shower.
The big race timer was turned off to prevent any incident of electrocution so we weren't able to track how long it took us to complete the track.
Loot bags were claimed after the race and a stage program started. The program was hosted by Jim & Tony Saret and was graced by actress Jessy Mendiola & business tycoon heiress Robina Gokongwei-Pe.
In spite of the rain, it was still a very successful event. The commitment of my co-racers teaches us an overused yet valuable lesson: if you want to achieve something, there should be NO EXCUSES!
Thanks to Robinsons Supermarket and its partners, Nestlé, Wyeth, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott, Unilab and Fonterra for making this event possible.
Childhope Philippines and Pawssion Project reinforce the value of unconditional care
In keeping up with today’s fast-paced lifestyle, we are often left with little to no time to attend to matters other than our own. When was the last time we truly went out of our way and extended care to those in need? Helping others may not be top of mind, but certain individuals prove that it actually doesn’t take much to try.
