I GOT A DISTINCTION FOR MY EXAM✨😭😭✨💖
First time in my uni life 😂😂✨🎊
I call this look 'giving up on uni' and I think it's really going to catch on
Fell down the stairs leaving my Algebra lecture. Guy asked me "Was that a groan of pain or a groan of despair? 'Cause it sounded like the noise you make when you haven't had your coffee yet."

Doggos in lectures and 'cheer' practice for an upcoming uni event made for a fun Wednesday :)
Guide To Reading Academic Articles (plus mind mapping app to use)
Hii :) so this post is based on one of the first and crucial set of skills needed to pass a political class i took this semester on reading academic articles. Hope it helps :)
HOW DO YOU READ?
This follows a MMOST Technique: (making use of) Preparation and Application
A. Preparation
1. Browse first!!
How is it structured? Does it use tables, diagrams, etc.? Is there a summary, conclusion? What headings are there?
2. Budget your time:
20 mins, then break for 10 mins.
3.Map out what you already know about the subject
5 mins max!
4. Questions and Goals
What do you want to know from this article?
Use study guide questions/Objectives- this was necessary for my class and syllabus :)
BREAK FOR 10 mins
APPLICATION
1. Preview- Look for answers to your questions
Do this quickly (5 mins) and several times
Read introduction then conclusion
Read beginning and end of paragraphs and chapters
Look for key words in the text and highlight those
Something difficult?- Highlight it and come back to it
2. Inview- Only if you need to!
Read like a snail to understand difficult passages
3. What don’t you know?
Have you answered all your questions?
What are you missing?
Where will you find that information?
4. Review- the next day, before class, once a week (actually a goal i need to implement more going into my second semester oops)
READING CRITICALLY
So here are some pointers to keep in mind :)
Concept Mapping
Basically, its mind-mapping, (got a lot of help on this one as the professors office hours lol) but is something vital that my lecturers advised we do. Mind mapping all the major concepts after all the necessary reading to connect the dots on the reading or across different readings in my syllabus. I’d say that if you are taking a class with many readings that are mandatory and interlinked. mind mapping it out is great
CmapTools, is a great app to use (especially on mac/PC app which is far easier to manoeuvre as opposed to the iPad app).
(My ultimate stress saver in doing this the day before my finals :D)
Anyway, hope this post helps someone (any politics/IR students or just any student), or is insightful to anyone :) xx
Long time no post but uni is obliterating me🔥 so glad to have a week of for Easter holiday but my to-do list is long so better get started. These are screenshots from my political dynamics class on the notability app. Got my test back for it before closing and I’m so happy I got one of the top marks in class😁😁🤗. Definitely given me a boost📖📚📝
