Uninvited, teen girl plus vampire you’d think ‘ oh this is just another vampire romance book.’ That is where you would be mistaken! One of the things I really like about Amanda Marrone’s story telling is that she like to take the classic troupes and give them a twist. That is very reasonable and refreshing. Like what would you actually do if you dead ex came back to life as a vampire and started haunting your bedroom window every night? (Well I guess that depends on how you and your ex ended things but you catch my drift.) but if your looking for a interesting short read that doesn’t feel like the same old song and dance then I would definitely recommend this one or really and others in her “series “ of one shot books. Pride has seriously stunted my spiritual growth. As a recovering perfectionist, admitting my faults, mistakes and shortcomings wasn't something I did very often. . . I could barely admit to myself that I wasn't perfect let alone someone close to me. Before my transformation began, I went so far as to blame others just so I wouldn't have to face my faults. . . God stripped me of pride, perfection and fear and replaced them with humility, compassion and acceptance. . . This verse spoke to my heart while reading the phenomenal book Uninvited by Lisa Terkheurst : Pride leads to disgrace but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2 (NLT) . . Pride gets in the way of God's grace. Grace ensures our life unfolds in miraculous ways. Until we humbly set aside pride, we cannot experience the miracles of grace. . . The measure of grace in my life lately has been infinite. It took admitting my missteps and asking for help to get on a grace-filled path. . . The relief I felt as soon as I accepted help and stepped toward humility was a sure sign that I followed God's guidance. Listening to the voice of love always feels empowering and expansive. . . The miracles that occurred once I embraced humility has strengthened my character; God revealed how pride kept me miserably stuck. . . I have grown immeasurably since the day I surrendered and accepted help. The wisdom I gleaned from my recent experiment in surrender is something I'll carry with me as I move forward and devote my life to helping others in a similar situation. . . If you find yourself in a sticky predicament, God desires to grant you grace. Set aside your pride; it's not doing you any favors. . . Once you accept that there's no grace in being pridefully perfect and that you are human (and humans make mistakes), both God and those who love you are waiting to help your humble heart. . . Don't be afraid to switch lanes just because you fear admitting you are human. Grace awaits you on the other side of pride. . .
