My thought process for the design was a bit different. It's supposed to represent a beacon, representing the community being a beacon of light for recovering radqueers (or proships or darkships or xenosatanists).
The star is supposed to represent individuality.
How every queer person is unique in their own way, and weirdness and uniqueness is accepted and celebrated here.
It's also based off of the anti-ship flag!
