The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 03/July/2026

The week started with getting some edits up together and sending off the previous chapter to the editor. I was super eager to get that over, as I absolutely love that chapter and the scenes in it, so can’t wait to hear what she thinks, hehe! :D

But then things went a little down.

Wednesday, I felt off, and then Thursday I was super ill. Literally hit out of nowhere and no idea what it was, ‘cause today I feel super fine! So that was random! It also threw me off schedule, which really makes me very anxious.

And I think the anxiousness of that, plus the not feeling well, made me a bit fragile, lol!

I went to do the tester edits today, and I was struggling to keep a good mindset for it. The testers are amazing! And they’ve taken the extra time to add such wonderful comments along with their feedback, but as I’m trying to adjust or edit things based on their comments, my brain just wants to tear me down—for absolutely no reason, as all of the testers’ comments are coming back positive, which is a relief! But still, I think we all just get days like that.

So, I put a pin in that before I let myself fall too deep into it!

But it also really helped to read your incredible and wonderful messages on my post last week! Thank you for sharing how much Wayhaven means to you too! The love that has grown around this series means more than you can ever know <3 <3

As for the writing, that is powering on ahead! Possibly that’s what is also making a little more emotional as well—to realise the culmination of all this work is finally starting to come to a head! And I’ve never been more proud of a creative work than this one!

This feels like a bit of an all over the place update this week, lol! Hopefully, I can get a little more cohesive for the next one! :D

Next week, I’ll be taking some time to do asks, as well as catch up on some social media, then I’ll be jumping right back into the writing!

I love seeing how Mishka puts together the Echolian language! And here we have another example - so far we've only had words but now, someone is speaking Echolian in full! Although, a quick fact from Mishka, Echolian is not supposed to sound like separate words when you speak it, more like one smooth sound!

And for those that like to dig further into the language - here are the pronunciations:

*Wheel dols chew deer yuh-she-tow ush awe chod chaz wheel*

Is Mishka a secret linguist? Maybe!

The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 26/June/2026

Was a back-and-forth week this week between things. I sent the next chapter over to the editor for edits after adding in the ones for the previous chapter. Except she couldn’t get far because it was kicking up an annoying error I was sure I’d fixed already.

So, I fixed it again and sent it back.

…Only for it to happen again!

Fixed it and sent it back, and it finally worked this time, lol! Really not sure what was happening with that!

Then I got a really weird glitch in Notepad++ where it deleted all the first letters of every line! I was like, ‘What is even going on this week?!’…then I realised I had scrolled one space over, so the letters were hidden and not deleted at all, lol! :D

But in having to go through the scenes and chapters again to fix all that, I got really proud of so much of Book Four! One of the things that really stands out for me that I always wanted Wayhaven to have is reactivity. Not just for the game to recognise the MC’s choices, which is important, but also other things, like in a scene, the LI might pipe up if the MC says something specific in one of the choices that doesn’t sit right with them or really does.

Or your BFF might note you’re being particularly optimistic when your MC doesn’t usually lean that way.

Or even that your MC might have said something to a character earlier and they mention it again later because it’s relevant to the conversation or another choice you picked.

It’s one of the things I absolutely love in RPG games, and what I always wanted Wayhaven to be as well but more. It’s taken until now to really find my groove with it properly. But I’ve learnt so much over the past three books, and it can culminate here!

It also does mean it’s taken soooo much longer than I planned, I know. And I am unbelievably thankful for your patience! I also want to say the most MASSIVE thank you the people over on Patreon—for sticking with me and believing in Wayhaven, even after the longer-than-expected journey it’s been!

You guys are the most incredible community, and you keep me going with your comments, likes, messages, unexpectedly hilarious reactions to things (:D) and unwavering support. Thank you <3

This weekend into next week, I’ll be pushing on with the endings (they are pretty chunky, as you can imagine!), and also getting ready the next chunk of chapters for the testers and adding input needed from them!

Wayhaven Asks

Hello everyone! I am so sorry, I didn't realise I hadn't caught up on the asks what with starting the endings of Book 4! But I will get to these as soon as I can, as I LOVE the asks :D

The Wayhaven Chronicles— Update 12/June/2026

Super busy this week, and it’ll be a busy weekend too! Now we’re getting so close to the end, it always gets hectic!

I did edits this week for the previous chapter. But one of the love interest scenes wasn’t quite right. It just didn’t have the romantic vibe I wanted and was a bit too…intensely serious, lol! :D

I really loved the scene though, so I cut it and saved it for use somewhere else, or at least use the choice set or bits of it in other later scenes.

Then that meant I had to rewrite half of this scene I thought was complete, including a bunch of choice sets in it.

…Then I completely changed my mind, deleted the rewrite and put the first scene back in.

Then, you’ll never guess what…but I changed my mind again, cut out the serious scene, and rewrote it again, lol!

But it’s definitely better now! The vibe really hits just as I want it to for this moment, and the scene flows perfectly! I’m definitely leaving it alone, hehe! :D

After the fun of going back and forth on that, I also caught up with tester feedback, adding in their edits as well as adjusting and adding in choices where things felt needed, etc.

The next chunk of chapters are with them now for testing. My nervousness is really abating after their wonderful feedback too!

Once edits overall were done, I started working on the ending section. I wanted to go over them fully before starting to write, in case anything needed adjusting now the full story has been done, but amazingly no much needed to be changed! Which will make for smooth sailing there—well, except I realise I did need to add an extra ending into it to account for a certain variation during the story I hadn’t accounted for, lol.

But that now means I can make a start on the endings proper, which feels sooooo good!

Also, my editor’s hand has also been healing really well, so they’re back to editing!

It really is full steam ahead!! Phew! :D

Next week, I’ll be pushing on with writing!

The Wayhaven Chronicles— Update 05/June/2026

Super quick one today as I am getting close to finishing the writing for this chapter like I hoped!!

I will be working on it tomorrow too, to make sure it’s completed.

Which means next week, I can start on the editing! Then after, you know what that means…it’ll be onto the endings!! (I do have some hefty epilogues after that, but I’m ready to celebrate getting to the endings, hehe! :D)

I did postpone the next chunk of testing chapters for the testers this week so I could focus on the chapter, so I’ll be getting those up together and sent off to them next week as well.

Yes, M choose their own name. They were offered to know their original name to use, but wanted a whole new fresh start.
